A day in the life of President Bush (photos): 5/1/03

President Bush and First Lady Laura began the day in a ceremony honoring the National Day of Prayer. Bush then headed to San Diego where he co-piloted a Navy Viking jet and landed on the USS Abraham Lincoln, a truly historic moment for American Presidents and our country. The President then spoke to the nation saying that major combat operations in Iraq are over. Bush also took the opportunity to once again thank the men and women of our military. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

It's no problem. I understand when people need sleep. I can't believe I'm actually still going. I got 5 1/2 hrs of sleep which isn't a lot for me, and I didn't take a nap today.
Good job posting your first pic. Did you tell Mr. B we are all proud of him?
Good night.

Just when I think President Bush can't top his last speech, he does it again. Yep, of course even if he'd said nothing his ACTIONS (and those of our military) have made this day a great day in US history. It was an added bonus that he spoke so well and said so clearly why we have fought.
I especially liked that he pointed out that we are not fighting war these days the way it was fought for centuries, as "military power was used to end a regime by breaking a nation." By the end of the speech the righteousness of our cause was clear. Hopefully these words would even get through to some of the terrorists themselves.

Hey, what ever happened to our SSGuy Steve???? I haven't seen him for ages.

Girl I live with 4 males, somebody has to keep it together to look for everything, and take care of everything.
Once we meet him you're own your own, I'm trying to get my shakes in. LOL

Wonderful montage! !! I should be thanking God every single day, rather than once in a while, that He didn't let gorelione steal the election in '00. FReeper SiberMike commented to me the other day, "Don't you get the feeling that Al Gore is actually relieved that he didn't win the presidency, with everything that happened since September 11?" I believe he's right, that gore does realize he simply was not capable of handling such calamitous conditions. Not that gore would ever admit it, but I do sense the truth in it.

I just fainted. :D
Poppy Bush was one of--if not THE--youngest pilots ever in the Navy. And he was gorgeous and tall and smart and athletic and kind and.......and I was born about 50 years too late. :-D
I had a mini-crush on HW in 7th grade and did a LOT of reading. LOL! I even read his book Looking Forward which was pretty heavy reading for a 7th grader! I got a lot of funny looks from classmates and incredulous looks from my teachers. What a life he's led. Incredible- and now his son is president. I adore Poppy too, but I am like his son- more conservative than he is.

He's so modest, he won't even come look at last nights Dose..LOL
He's the greatest..
Good Night

"SSGuy Steve" is a nickname I gave to one of the Secret Service guys (aka SSGuy) that always guarded our president. He is very tall with dark hair, knowing eyes, and a VERY stern countenance- exactly what you'd want from a SS Guy. And he used to be in dose photos almost everyday. We don't know (and don't want to know) his real name, so we decided he looked like a Steve and christened him such. He became sort of a "where's Waldo" on the dose in our lighter days. And we used to pray for him just like we did the president himself. Anyone got a photo of him?? OWF???

Yes, I loved that part too, about how we now have the ability to end a regime by taking out the guilty. I was taping it, still haven't seen it, but heard it while I cooked dinner. I am looking forward to rewinding the tape and soaking up his words.

At the time that he signed up, he was the youngest Naval aviator. Did you check out that site?
One fact I had never heard before .....
At Chapel Hill Naval Air Station, one of Bush's fellow cadets was the well-known Boston Red Sox hitter Ted Williams ...

OH boy..... Shep Smith went over all of them this afternoon--I know that the red ones handle ammunition, the silver ones handle accidents (salvage), the blue ones lock the planes down onto the deck.....and I have totally forgotten what the rest of them mean. LOL! I will troll around and see if I can find out.
