Nevermind - the NBC Life feed from Sandiego station is now showing the carrier. My question is - they showed a prop plane taking off (no knowledge of military lingo here). What was that for, any of our military analysts, please? Keep up the commentary for those with no access to other views - OK???? (Thanks, Howlin, and yes, this is great joy!)

Did the plane have a radar dome on top -- if it did it was the Hawkeye which is the Navy's surveillance plane off the Carrier!

That prop plane is an aerial surveillance radar plane.
One is kept aloft all the time.
