The America of today is presented to you by the grandchildren of the World War Two generation. In the worst show of mass rebellion possible, this new generation has become a horror to its parents by believing in the founding ideals of this country and willingly dispersing to the corners of the Earth to bring true freedom to all. These men and women are not willing to be the vicTIMS the 60s generation wants. They are vicTORS.

I really like what you wrote. I'm convinced our best years are still to come, beginning with these times. The doom and gloomers tried to pull America down, but somehow this country has prevailed, and the past was all prologue.

5,500 on that ship. And I wouldn't doubt he DID shake them all!

He is spending the night! This of course, would send chills down the spines of normal Americans if it was Clinton. :-)

Maybe it depends on the crowd. Maybe it is a military thing.

And the end of the Clinton "legacy."

Or...the START of the true Clinton legacy!!

That's what I'm apprehensive of--that we are just at the start of the true Clinton legacy and it may haunt this Nation for decades to come.

A few days ago, I posted essentially the same comment and some responded that, rather than decades, more likely generations.

I haven't seen President Bush look so happy and carefree in a couple of years. It was a great day for him, for those soldiers and for the nation of those who love this beloved president.

If I had gotten through to CSPAN I would have said we were attacked without provocation and we would be attacked even more if we had not responded in kind. I furthermore would have said that those people who felt we should just clean up the rubble and move on are a threat to our security and are the reason we were attacked to begin with.

They told me that the loathing and utter contempt for Bill Clinton was all but universal among the troops.

My experience was similar. And its very, very easy to explain. Troops loved Reagan because they knew he loved them. And both Bush's have that same quality. You couldn't watch him tonight and doubt the depth of his feelings for the troops.

Clinton "loathed" them. And it was reciprocated.

American troops don't ask much of their President, do they? Just respect them for what they do.

I don't know about that. I think it's because Americans are sensitive to the presence of the Secret Service, and therefore are more careful about appearing too hysterical. When the Pope comes to visit or a pop star makes a public appearance you see plenty of hysteria in American crowds.

Different crowd. The military is more disciplined, at least when on duty. :^)
