Thanks for making your statement.
We need to get over this obsession with sexual orientation!
There is too much that is truly dangerous out there.
Yet, in this time of war, 1000s of our citizens who are loyal, capable, sometimes combat decorated, men & women are being forced from or bypassing our armed services for no reason other than silly hysteria over their private sexual practices--don't believe that if you "don't tell" no one asks or assumes or discriminates, even on the basis of mistaken belief.
A veiled reference or snide remark destroys a career in this bizarre atmosphere.
You and I paid for the training of all soldiers with my taxes. Don't we want it fully utilized? Besides,
my life and that of people I love--and those the oh-so-righteous emailers here love, too--may very well depend on the translation of an Arab terrorist's email or the battle field rescue of a wounded son or daughter by a helicopter pilot.
Yet the service members who could be there for them (and for us)won't be because of obsession with their off duty sex lives.
How tragic. How stupid.
Bet no one who could have been saved would have turned away their savior because of his or her sexual orientation. Let's hope those who email ugly comments here never have to weep for a lost child because their potential rescuer was drummed out of, or forced to bypass, the service.
As to honoring the moral systems operating in organizations
--can everyone say Enron? World Com? Tyco? Without the various checks and balances provided by employment and anti-discrimination law, all power would be in the hands of employers, just as it once was in the hands of the ruling class under monarchies.
There is nothing socialistic about that observation; it's simply human nature to grab and hold power. And, thank G-d, human nature to fight back.

... silly hysteria over their private sexual practices...

Their hysteria over their private sexual practices is detrimental to good order and unit cohesion. Like it or not, that is a fact.
