The VA has already given up information regarding some vets who have had treatment of PTSD and possibly other ailments that could prevent them from ever owning a firearm again.

Everything in that post is correct.

If they fall into subparagraph 4

has been adjudicated as a mental defective or has been committed to any mental institution;

They should NOT be allowed to have firearms, whether they are veterans or not.
