"They should keep their mouths shut," Duvall said. This son of a naval officer knows how to sum up a situation. He's only the best actor in Hollywood.
BTW, I did see "The Apostle". It's...ummm...different, but I liked it, and you can tell he liked playing the part. Two of my favorite characters of his are The Great Santini and Gus in Lonesome Dove. Couldn't sit through his portrayal of Stalin, though...or was it Lenin? Whatever...I couldn't sit through it. I somehow missed Gods and Generals in the theater, but I will buy it when it comes out on DVD. When I heard they were making Gettysburg into a movie I told everybody that Robert Duvall would be perfect for the part of Lee...and they ended up using Martin Sheen. To his credit, Sheen isn't a bad actor, he's just no Robert E. Lee.

I didnt know that Jason Priestly was up and about again after his racing car wreck. Glad to hear he's thinking clearly.

At Saturday's White House Correspondents Association dinner, actors Kelsey Grammer,
Jason Priestley, Robert Duvall and Ron Silver all told CNSNews.com reporter
Marc Morano how they disagreed with Michael Moore's anti-Bush rant
As much as I appreciate all the other luminaries...I'm still in "shock and awe" at
Ron Silver having the scales fall from his eyes.
That's the guy who should get the "It Takes A Big Man To Admit He Was Wrong" Award.

I'm actually blown away by this. I always thought Jason Priestley was another hollywood liberal. He's also (or at least was) a Canadian, proving once again that not all Canadians are anti-American leftists.

sigh ... 'jingoistic' is a charge and negative term, using 'we' is NOT jingoistic, unles you think America itself is inherently 'jingoistic'. So what does "we" mean here ...??

A fantastic movie, not to be missed. He should have received two oscars for that film.

Okay, can anybody say with any true knowledge if Ron Silver has become a Republican or or a conservative? Or is that a little too much wishful thinking on my part? LOL.
One thing I'll say about him is that he is very articulate whenever I've heard him speak about these issues unlike his Hollywood cohort. He doesn't have to be a Republican to earn my respect but it sure would be fun if he was one.

There are more than a few free thinking- emphasis on thinking- celebrities. Most them keep quiet but I sense more of them will be speaking out more and more in the months and years ahead.

James Earl Jones, brilliant actor and a retired army officer said recently that war is sometimes necessary:
All people have to be prepared, Jones said. If we are going to be the police, we also have to be the guardians. We can no longer play games. I was not against the war in Bosnia. I was against it taking so long. I was not against the war in Somalia. Again, it took too long, and we didnt finish the job. We shouldve stayed and finished the job. About this pending war, I just think we shouldve finished that war the first time.

Actually Silver has openly declared support of conservative views for years now. Remember, the "mainstream" i.e. leftists- have been keeping the cameras and microphones away from them and onto the mindless parrots.

To me, he'll always be "Gus" from Lonesome Dove. He's one of the all time great actors, IMO.

Actor Kelsey Grammer, who plays the lead role in NBC's "Frasier" sitcom, said he refused to watch this year's Academy Awards because of the anti-war "crap" that fellow celebrities spewed. Grammer said he was spared filmmaker Michael Moore's anti-war acceptance speech and attack on the Bush administration at the March 23rd Academy Awards. "I didn't hear it because I didn't watch [the Academy Awards]," Grammer told CNSNews.com.
I liked Kelsey Grammer a little before this, but now I'm a big fan! All the people in Hollyweird need to take a lesson from this guy.

A great Duvall quote:
"I'm not a big Barbra Steisand fan. She said if George Bush were re-elected she'd move to England. Well, let her move. Let her move! Fast!...I always find that there is a catch with people like her, some form of hypocrisy. Barbra Streisand won't go to Colorado because they passed a law that was prejudicial to gays, but I'll bet she'll go to Havana where they quarantine gays."

Remember, the "mainstream" i.e. leftists- have been keeping the cameras and microphones away from them and onto the mindless parrots. I'm think you are on to something here. If conservative democrats find their voices against these co-opting communist movements destroying their party, it will become easier to undo some of the harmful social engineering programs we now "enjoy". Maybe even out of the UN alot sooner. Hope!

Thanks for the info.
And you're right...I'm in West Los Angeles and never heard a peep about Silver
"making a right turn".
I guess the celebrity reporters here are staying true to their Pravda and Isvestia roots.

Yes, IMO Duvall is the best actor in the US. His performances as the sleazy journalist in 'The Natural' and the broken-down cowboy in a movie who's name escapes me (Something of the Heart?) are not his best-known but are priceless.
