Would they recognize a suicide with three bullets in the back of the head?

From the description it sounded as if it might have been. But evidently the doubters were right. Still, this story was a lot more circumstantial than your usual white powder alarm.

"What I can say is that it is not anthrax," said Claudio Guimaraes, director of the Legal Medical Institute in the Amazon city of Belem. He could not immediately say what caused the death of Ibrahim, who police earlier said died after vomiting, internal bleeding and multiple organ failures.

Gee, I wonder what it was.

They sure are getting predictable..

The FR tinfoil idiot brigade who have no critical thinking skills other than simply believing what they want to believe and not believing anything they don't want to believe are the ones that are predictable.

Why is it so hard for people to understand that BASIC facts that make a story a story (that the guy even DIED of anthrax at all, that there WAS a suitcase full of anthrax) can be wrong? Without a conspiracy theory or coverup? When did the Brazilian police suddenly become an infallible, unimpeachable source?

I predicted that it would turn guy didn't die of anthrax.(hilariously, on the single biggest thread on this story, I managed to read 200 posts into it without seeing a SINGLE person bringing up the possibility that the sailor didn't die of anthrax....instead, people were busily and excitedly constructing elaborate attack theories and speculation without the SLIGHTEST questioning of the base story.

I also predicted that people that had their hearts and hopes set on this guy dying of terrorist anthrax would immediately start screaming "coverup!" as soon as the story fell apart, as they always do when a terror scare story on FR that people were hoping was true, falls apart.

I mean, how many times does this have to happen before people get a clue? It's the same people over and over and over and over and over again, doing the exact same thing, posting the exact same posts, etc. Going back to the "Arab" releasing "powder" in an airliner vent, who turned out to be a guy opening a Christmas card with confetti in it. Or the "Arabs" locking themselves in an airliner bathroom and shaving their bodies that turned out to be a couple of Indian guys on their way to a convention shaving their faces.

Even if it's something you want to believe, BASIC facts in stories can turn out to be wrong; not just the peripheral details, the BASIS of the whole story can be wrong.

No, it sounds more like a weaponized form of hemoragic fever. Maybe he snorted some to see if it was coca based. That would explain the symptoms... just a very nervous thought since hearing a report a couple of years ago about some unidentified mid-easterners (Arabs) in a helicopter flying around an Ebola outbreak area in Africa looking for ...???

Naw, xtra strength Sars.

Well, since they can't tell what this person died from. Can they tell what is the substance in the suitcase. Where and what is it please, they've had enough time to find that out.

Those were my thoughts exactly. Botulinum toxin, ebola?
A suitcase full of those is not exactly "nothing to worry about".

Maybe some things are false alarms, but you seem to ignore WHY people think that way. Remember 9-11?
I wonder why people get so paranoid about Muslims and Arabs...

I was thinking last night about how convenient it would be if, as we can't find biological/chemical weapons in Iraq, we have them delivered to us (which would also prove that Saddam and/or al-Qaida is still a threat). Alas, some things just aren't meant to be.

Remember the guy died on April 11th, that's 18 days ago.

If, after the autopsy and several tests they still don't know what killed him, that is something to be concerned about, by itself.

That's right. The story went from a suitcase full of anthrax to a suitcase full of... nothing? Something deadly caused the hemorraging in his lungs.

By the way, just where is the freakin' suitcase anyway? I've been trying to figure out who in the heck has it.
