LANSING -- Gov. Jennifer Granholm and the state Democratic Party are asking corporations and unions to donate $25,000 to a new political fund intended to help get their message across to voters.
The names of the donors to Partnership for Progress and most details about how the money is spent will be kept secret, Democratic Party Chairman Melvin "Butch" Hollowell confirmed.

Interest groups such as the Sierra Club and Citizens for Better Medicare often use them to pay for issue ads that mobilize support for Democratic or Republican candidates without explicitly telling voters for whom they should vote. I've received mailings from the Sierra Club. They don't tell you who to vote for but they do tell you how the "extremist right-wing" and "Goerge W. Bush" are killing the environment. I never read such hate mail before.

No doubt John McCain will be ranting about this thwarting of the spirit of campaign finance reform Ahhh, yes. Saint John will soon be riding in on his white horse to take care of this . . .
I'm sure he'll craft a bi-partisan bill that will punish the wicked and reward the good. After all, he is the most honest man in the country.
Granholm is a democrat
Well of course! It can't be bi-partisan if it doesn't help the democrats.

McCain out there spouting dem talking points. He says he can't support a tax cut until he knows how much the war cost, how much the rebuilding of Iraq will cost, etc. etc.
