So why is the house shaking... Felt like a long 4-5 earthquake at 5:02

Woke me up here in Tennessee between Nashville and chattanooga. Lasted a good 45 seconds. my mom and dad live in missouri near the big fault.

Is any part of GA on a fault line? I can't recall ever hearing of an earthquake in GA. It must be quite scary for you! I hope it was an anomaly.

Just called my Mom and Dad in Southeast Missouri. Must have not been too bad there because Mom and Dad slept through it.

Fault line runs through the old gold fields of Dalongha (-2 sp) over west-south-west towards the AL state line.

So, that was an earthquake? I figured it was a train in the distance or something.. LOL But, then, I'm in the western NC mountains probably near the edge of the zone..

I didn't know there were any gold fields in GA. Yes, I'm a product of the public school system.
