Thanks for your chart Error99. I mentioned I thought it was centered around Mentone in my earlier post. I was just judging from phone calls to relatives though. Nice to have some stastics to back it up now.

I just made that exact comment on another board - "I'm sure no big deal for CA folks, but a *very* strange event for Atlanta / East of Mississippi River types."

Kinda cool tho isn't it? It is a bit of a rush when the world starts rolling....

When the wife wakes up screaming, it most certainly a rush. Thought a tree hit the house at first.

I know that this town just had all 8 police officers zoom by a few minutes ago heading NORTH from Fort Payne.

That could be the Dunkin' Donuts grand opening...

It's what they said on the tv - the really big one on the New Madrid fault had both rivers running backwards...

Ditto,

I've got a wife on bedrest due to pregnancy complications. About the time I woke up and figured out what it was she was calling me in a panic from the other room.

No doubt a lot of people recall those big 1999 earthquakes in Turkey & Greece. I happened to be in Istanbul for the Turkish one and in Athens for the Greek one. That was something else, for sure!!

No... They're wrong.

Just the Mississippi flowed north, and only for a short while to fill the new lakes, and just in that region.

Missouri connection is further north, up past St Louis a few miles.

I too heard the largest earthquake in American was along the Madrid fault. Rivers ran backwards for two days.

I found that odd because the MO runs back on itself at St. Charles at all times, the New Madrid Fault isn't a factor.

Well I almost fell out of bed, but since I'm sleeping on a mattress in the floor (so as not to disturb the expectin mama) it was a short trip....
