These critics obviously never ate at a White Castle...

There are a lot of things the Brits do well...
But eating well, or cooking is not among them..
A Brit dominated food judging team.....should be highly suspect..
I wouldn't be at all surprised to learn that the REALLY best eating place in the world --- is in Japan.
I've had more REALLY fine meals in Japan - than anywhere I've been....including Europe.

For the gastronomes, from a passionate cook--
BION--Believe it or not, the BEST food to be had is at Epcot Center's "World Showcase" in Orlando.
Even the coffees and ices from the little push-booths are the best you've ever tasted. Don't ask me how this is accomplished--there must be some great kitchen management going on.
Not to mention, it ain't all that expensive, either.
Had an incredible Mediterranean meal at "Morocco"--the best Mexican food I've ever eaten in "Mexico" (and I've spent most of my life in Texas), fantastic pastries everywhere. Japanese was even good, and I'm not fond of Japanese food.
The most expensive meal I had was thirty bucks, and that was with dessert and a glass of wine, and live entertainment.
Let your kids ride, and you can eat.

Thanks for posting this. My boss & his wife and friends just had dinner there last month, so I will give him the article.

Gramercy Tavern is very good. For more casual dinning, the bistro in the front of the restaurant/bar area is also good.

La Fuente, Wenatchee, Washington. Has a smoking section even. The best, according to the JFK Resturant Association. Me, basically...JFK

Give me a good Greek local restaurant any day over the high priced stuff. And what is nice, we all have them.

They left out this unique French restaurant which has a very unique way of serving baby ducks.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/902737/posts At six weeks, they are strangled rather than decapitated in order to retain all of their blood.
They are then plucked and eaten within 24 hours, as bacteria proliferate in a dead, blood-filled duck.
Once it reaches La Tour d'Argent, the duck is lightly roasted and its breast, leg and liver removed. The carcass is then put in a press to extract its blood and juice, which diners can watch trickle into a chafing dish.
This juice is then added to a sauce consisting of the chopped liver, Cognac and butter, which is poured over slices of breast.
This is then presented with "soufflees" potatoes. The legs are grilled and served separately with a salad.
