Arms Control Folly - No piece of paper will curb North Korean aggression

So North Korea cements its standing as a member of the Axis of Evil by boasting that it already has nuclear weapons and hinting it might use them. No one proposes to meet this threat by invading forthwith, but no one has any other good answer either. At least we can understand how we got into this fix; it's a tale of extraordinary folly.

I am amazed at those who think NKorea stuck to their agreememt...but we did not.A country who spends 30% on their military while many starve cannot be trusted.

Sometimes I wonder if we human beings are capable of passing what we have learned from one generation to the next.

Some people entertain the illusion that you can negotiate with evil- that if you just manage to select the correct "process" or "protocol," or can figure out how to "frame the issues" properly the ravening nature of the skull behind the smiley-face will somehow be mitigated...

Yet even a cursory study of history belies that naive and happily foolish belief-- just look at the bloody road to the second World War- a road littered with the tattered remains of treaties & protocols & agreements between nations. Every one of them irrelevant once the bullets started flying and men started dying.
