We can get the message to some of the troops. Tonkin has contacts. I think FoxNews would help (did you hear Brian Kilmeade mention FR - the Garafolo awards - this morn.?),
troops@foxnews.com, E-mail the Nimitz crew:
E-mail_the_troops@nimitz.navy.milThese guys know how to throw a party:
Tonkin, we're throwing a ticker tape parade for the troops at the OIF thread on Friday. You and the Canteen crew are of course invited to participate!

You have to be fast and good in the music bidness...
Written a few days ago (but now wholly unmarketable :-):
If I Should Die Before You Wake>/u>
Got my orders, we're leaving soon,
as soon as the moon goes down;
There's bad guys digging in they say,
by that sleepy little town.
Well, we'll wake 'em up, and shake 'em up,
and start to make things right
but we'll never run, and we won't back down
if they're looking for a fight.
Chorus:
If I should die before you wake,
you might not even know...
But I'll stand my ground so they can't take
the Freedom we love so!
If I should die before you wake,
just say a little prayer
And thank your God when you first wake
that someone was standing there.
Please tell Grandma that the fudge was great,
-- I'll send a letter back!
And tell Mother that I've got her Bible
safely in my pack.
Tell Amy I miss seeing her
at the coffee shop Friday nights,
And tell Uncle Bill I've kept my honor,
and fought right, for what's right.
... repeat Chorus ...
Nobody wants a war, but some folks
just won't get the word.
And part of me said, "Life's not simply
following the herd."
I came here when my country called
and I'll stay until we're done,
And pray that God will make me brave
while Freedom needs my gun.
... repeat Chorus ...
Last refrain:
If I should die before you wake,
just say a little prayer
And thank God with me when you first wake
that I was standing there.

I had great news today that I thought I would share.
My hubby(1sgtMike) called today, he's fine and is at an abandoned airstrip with his Chinooks north of Baghdad.
My Spc son Jonathan found out today(after I talked to his dad, naturally) that he has been de-mobilized and will be returning home May 10th from Ft. McCoy.....he is soooooo mad that he's not going that there is no use talking to him....he's also upset that he has to turn in his desert cammies..LOL
Now I only have one to worry about over there and Jonathan can return to school this fall at ISU, he's already lost this semester.

Ok this is gonna be my last post for a little bit. The room is packed up and I'm taking the computer down after I post this. I leave with the 3rd Brigade 1st Armored Division tomorrow for parts unknown. I know that all of your thoughts and prayers will be with the soldiers of the Bulldog Brigade. If you want to keep up on what's going on...go to www.riley.army.mil there is a current news link and you'll be able to hear my radio updates on what's happening. This is the greatest website in the world IMHO. And I'm glad I am part of the canteen. Take care and I'll do my best to post from "over there" when I can. John

Today's meeting of future Iraqi leaders w/ Gen. Jay Garner went well. FN - Jonathon Hunt: "This was, according to US officials, a very good day for Democracy in Iraq."
Some wanker's deeply saddened.

I just came to this thread specifically to spread the word that Chris Matthews was having an in depth discussion of the Bin Laden/Iraq connection. In additon to Myrolie is a man who also is an expert. He and Laurie both think the document does not indicate a "get to know" type thing, but the relationship goes back to early nineties.
Fascinating and satisfying as Matthews has poo-pooed the Al Qaeda/Iraq connection. So I liked it when LM answered when he asked what the document meant that it showed the connection that the administration had always said was there. She said it professionally, I would have thwacked him across the nose with my copy of the document.

Friday is fine!
Oh, Matthews asking Laurie about the anthrax on ship headed to Canada. Matthews asks her if it was supposed to end up here? She can only guess, she says. First mention on MSNBC that I've heard about the anthrax. Doesn't mean they haven't mentioned it---I just hadn't heard them, yet.

Matthews would start bawling if anybody smacked him across the nose. Guests on the show prolly have to sign a contract in advance that says they won't.
