Let's just do it - barring a national emergency - have a parade. Any day's fine with me. Friday will be a big celebration w/ the USS Lincoln coming into San Diego - we could make it one big welcome home / thank you party?
Remember this man who came up with a sign to counter the anti-war protestors? That was Feb. 8, 2003 (I have older dairy products in my frig):
Two months and one day later -

It sounded like the people yelling early on were saying "It's because of You! You! You keep going!" (It was hard to understand and make out but that is what I got from it)I only listened to it the one time, but that is what I heard, too. It was great. Aren't you glad you taped it? It was a very moving and informative speech---with the information about the needs of the Iraqis and our plans to help them.
Not to mention more stories of just what kind of oppression existed over there. The story of the man killed for laughing at a joke about Saddam Hussein. He was found out because he was in a bugged house. President Bush said he had been told people were afraid to open their windows for fear of being overheard. He announced "they can open their windows now" (Or "you can open...").

Prayers to his family, and God Bless this brave soldier.
Yes may God bless his family. I posted an article just the other day, Friday or Saturday, where a news outlet had interviewed the family of Sgt. John Anguiano's and his mother was showing the things that her son had purchased for her during his time in the military. She stated it was easier to talk about that than to talk about him missing.

Sgt. John Anguiano was the final soldier missing in action in Iraq. His family was notifed Sunday.

I was hoping they'd replay it later on cspan, but it doesn't look like they carried it in real time.

I'm all for it..........and we can incorporate Bush's speech while he's onboard maybe!

My memory has been suspect lately with all that is going on...but I have a thought. If I'm correct, in the first Gulf War, we bombed the Iraqis for 38 days, and the ground war took 100 hours, which equates to a little over 4 days. This would total 42 days and 4 hours. Will President Bush end this one by claiming victory on day 42 as well?

Neil Cavuto is back, with a purpose! His closing comments today, nailing the protestors for mocking the sacrifices (one we should all be so lucky to make, says Neil - to lose our lives freeing a people) - of those who served (and their families - new widows, fatherless sons, childless parents) in this just war. Is Neil related to Daniel Webster? Sniff.

It's official, then. Ticker-tape parade/party Friday for the troops at the OIF thread. Spread the word - we're pretty casual, but when it's for the troops we manage to muddle through with heart. (^;

Do you remember clotheslines and ironing? Or actually running through the full clotheslines and getting threatened with ironing (even though you were too young to touch the iron)?

Those ANSWER folks are at it even now? Hand them a copy of the 'bellygirl' poster (edited) - "You shut the H*** up, ANSWER! WE'LL save civilization!"
Looking forward to your report...from whatever vantage point. (^:

My mother had us iron pillowcases! Also Dad's hankerchiefs. I keep ironing to a minimum now. We do have a discreet clothesline. We have a roof over our patio and the line runs along under the roof line. It is not very noticeable but it's handy for the occasional line dry if the mood strikes, but is usually used to throw wet bathing suits and towels over.

They love GWB.
I will never forget the coverage of the Dearborn, Mi. Iraqi Americans

(embers of Michigan's Iraqi community hit a drawing of Saddam Hussein with shoes, hands and an American flag during a rally in Dearborn on Wednesday. Revelers stood on car roofs, cheered and waved U.S. and Iraqi flags as they rejoiced at the apparent collapse of Saddam Hussein's government.)
celebrating in the streets on March 9, 2003 after the statue of their oppressor came tumbbling down in the middle of that Baghdad square.

Going, going...

Gone!

Iraqi men in Dearborn, Mich., celebrate U.S. war victories Wednesday.

Thanks for the info RC. I missed Neil, I had to go make it look as if I did something around the house today. Throw a few dishes in the washer, swish a little and then all done. Leftovers for tonight. I guess I'll have to catch Neil real late tonight.

Friday sounds good. I have a morning thing I have to do but will be able to join later. I
wish we could get word to some of the troops that have computer access. Just to get the message home, so to speak. Ah well, it will be fun anyhow.
