"Unfortunately, there seems to be a "You Made Me Hit You Club" on FR - and oddly, there seem to be more women in it than men."
I suppose that's what happens when people give up their power. She/he made me do it because I have no power to do anything else./sarcasm
While there are true victims due to circumstances, it seems quite a number of people are willing to be victims and don't understand the concept of being a volunteer to whatever befalls them. I pity those that never find true freedom by taking responsibility and action to avoid being a volunteer.

Unfortunately, there seems to be a "You Made Me Hit You Club" on FR - and oddly, there seem to be more women in it than men. Maybe *that* is why so many stay with the guy.

>> aren't cities and their officers covered by the "State political subdivision" exception?
I read the sections 922 and 925, and it looks as though one subject to a restraining order could still possess government owned guns for government business. I'm not sure the chief had any business with one at this time and place, though.
Far as I know, a person subject to a restraining order, though he be a cop, cannot possess guns for personal use, and those with domestic violence convictions can't even use a government owned one on the job,l unless they apply to the Secretary of the Treasury (BATF) and obtain relief (and we all know they are not doing that for anybody right now). I recall when it passed, thousands of cops with restraining orders and/or misdimeanor domestic violence convictions had to be either reassigned to desk jobs, or became unemployed. Too bad for them, but as a group, their chiefs supported this.
And since the order in this case was issued some two months ago, I gotta wonder what had been done to ensure this police chief was, himself, in compliance with the law.

Too bad you coudn't base it on the known facts in his caseToo bad you have formed your opinion on the often wrong hysteria caused by the media.
You have no real knowledge of what really happened in this case, and my speculation was based on the very real bias against men in this society.
And by the way, dearie, even those reports you read in the paper--they are colored by the personal experiences of the reporters, have no doubt about it. You are VERY naive if you think there exists, outside of mathematics, any real, hard facts because most events in this life are subject to interpretation based on the bias of the viewer. So get off your holier-than thou highhorse.

There is a problem alright--and its the feminization of this society by the leftist man-hating NOW butches who have the majority of women convinced that they need to maintain the freedom of "choice" to murder their unborn children. These feminists have an absolute hatred for men that has pervaded every segment of society and affected the court system so much that the scales of justice are decidedly tipped towards women and against men.
When you strip away a man's dignity, his rights, his way of making a living, and everything else, it is not surprising that a few make some very bad choices. But hey, why should the feminists complain--its just another choice, right?

Since you brought up butches, are you a dyke?

Heaven forbid I look at the political aspects of a story on a political website.
Sorry, I'm not a part of the pity patrol. Quick someone is posting a story on starving children in China. Go there and make sure no one belittles it by commenting on the CCP.

You have no real knowledge of what really happened in this case, and my speculation was based on the very real bias against men in this society.Speculate all you want. It doesn't mean you automatically have some magic insight into this case. You can talk about "bias against men" but that doesn't make the victim (the WIFE) a bitch who probably got what she deserves. Despite the fact that you wish she was. See, that way, it makes sense to you. Men don't hurt anyone until a woman pushes them to it, according to your theory of the world.
So, what did Saddam's first wife do to make him such a lovely person?
Too bad you have formed your opinion on the often wrong hysteria caused by the media.
What hysteria? "Man shoots wife, self in front of kids" sounds like cold hard fact to me. He chose to murder his wife. I guess I'm "biased against men" if I conclude that he's a bad guy.
And by the way, dearie, even those reports you read in the paper--they are colored by the personal experiences of the reporters, have no doubt about it.
Are you saying maybe he didn't shoot his wife? That the report and the facts are "biased"? Yes, reports can be tainted by bias. I am hardly naive and I can spot it. The report in this story appears pretty straightforward. But if I missed a biased comment, please point it out to me.

"but I wonder if he might have been pushed over the edge... There is a strong bias in favor of women in these cases, and it is clear from the article that he knew it." Yes there is a bias against men in the family courts. Yes this guy was a complete idiot for doing what he did to his wife, in front of his children.

The Chief of Police in my town just resigned after his third rather embarassing unintentional discharge of his duty weapon, a Glock 22. Let's see, he first capped off TWO rounds while reholstering his weapon at a civilian gym where he presumably had it secured in a locker. The rounds both impacted into said locker killing it instantly (lol). He then subsequently after a 6 month lapse without firing the weapon either intentionally or unintentionally, fired another round while in his private office bathroom, destroying the toilet bowl. It was later revealed that he had suffered other such discharges while in his previous job (same position as chief) in Tulsa OK (I think). So he resigned and took a job as a paid consultant to the dept. and tripled his former salary as chief. How nice. Who said only cops should have guns?
