I had a great time at this Seminar and would recommend it to anyone curious about how the world really works, and how to work within the system to create change.

Wow! This report is fantastic. I was there at the seminar and you have done a terrific job, more than anyone could possibly expect, of detailing the relevant information.
I wish all the readers of this website could attend a seminar like this.
Matt Lewis of the Leadership Institute and the Leadership Institute itself, are tops. THANK YOU FREE REPUBLIC NETWORK! I had a great time and learned a lot.
And special thanks to Ted Hayes, activist extraordinaire.

Many thanks to both of you for your energy and commitment.
I only wish I could remember half of what I learned at the last LI session I attended. The recap you have so generously provided was a welcome review.

EXCELLENT report, David!
THANK YOU for posting it!
Perhaps some of the other "Activism 101" attendees will also post THEIR thoughts and comments here. (hint, hint)
I will, too - soon.
Until then, see also my OTHER "Activism 101"-related thread:
Memorial Day 2003 = "Mother of All B...?" - creative FReeper help needed, please!
It is NOT (yet) too late! THIS SATURDAY (4/26) in L.A. - "Activism 101" seminar [walk-ins allowed] ^ | April 27, 2003 | RonDog, Ted Hayes and the California FReepers
Posted on 04/27/2003 7:48 AM PDT by RonDog
One of the results of our "Activism 101" seminar (sponsored by the newly reinvigorated Los Angeles Chapter of the Free Republic Network, and taught by instructors from the well-respected Leadership Institute) was our decison to adopt as a "class project" a Memorial Day rally - to immediately implement the activism skills which have have just learned.
(To follow is a ROUGH DRAFT of the proposed rally.)
We need YOUR help to define and sharpen our message, starting with the NAME of this event, which Ted has suggested should incorporate "M.O.A.B." = the "Mother Of All Bombs."While I greatly respect Ted's political instincts, and I truly believe that we can use this upcoming holiday to expand our message beyond "Support Our Troops" to some sort of "Welcome Home and THANK YOU!" - the "M.O.A.B." concept needs some work, IMHO.
I understand the reference to the bunker-busting "Mother Of All Bombs" which was a major part of the VERY successful "shock and awe" tactics which helped us win the war with minimal civilian and Coalition casualties, and I appreciate Ted's blending THAT image with the definition of a successful CELEBRATION as being "the bomb" - but I am not certain that the average American to which we are addressing our message will make that connection, at least initially. What say YOU, FReepers from across the USA?
"Mother Of All BARBEQUES" has a nice "family picnic in the park" sound to it, but it perhaps does not carry sufficient gravtitas. And "Mother Of All 'Welcome Home Troops' Rallies" is a little wordy... Please post YOUR ideas here. THANK YOU!

DD, thanks for the great post! There is so much information to absorb in an Activism 101 seminar, it's hard to decide what to emphasis.
We had a great training session and a an excellent day! Thanks to Rondog from the LA Chapter, Matt at the Leadership Institute and all the attendees for making it a memorable occasion!
Pics coming soon...

Very nice detailed report Dennis. Excellent job. The Activisim 101 seminar was a rousing success. I would advise other regions to invite the Leadership Institute to their area. The LI presentation was great. The networking with other conservative groups within our own region was excellent too.

Texas FReepers could benefit from reading this report on how to be more effective activists and deal with the media.

Wow! Great stuff!
(And Hillary Rodham's been taking
classes as well! You've listed her entire
political strategy in a nutshell!)
So...taking this into consideration,
were there any pointers on defeating
the opposition who practices the Art
of making the impossible possible??

Now I'm really disappointed that I couldn't make it. It sounds like the kind of information that can be helpful in other areas.
Due to the fact that my oldest daughter's fiancee got hit with the mother of all state tax bills, they've had to change their wedding plans. They're getting married by a justice of the peace, then we're having the reception at the neighbor across the street. They can always renew their vows in Hawaii. Guess who's doing all the cooking for the bridal shower and reception. It'll be nice, and we'll have a good time. Wish I had time to pass out those recall Gray Davis petitions, that sob...

How did the CATWASH go?
I am going to save this thread and re-read it a few times. I was at a Brazosport Republican Women's Club party/meeting yesterday. We had State Senator Mike Jackson as our speaker, (man, he got grilled about home owner insurance, it is a HOT TOPIC here, with all the toxic mold cases and Farmer's insurance dropping policies and raising prices!) I noticed that there were many people there that I only see a few times a year and if not for name tags I would not know their names. There is no excuse for this. I am starting TODAY with THIS thread to do a better job for our conservative cause!
Thank you for all of your hard work!
