[history]
THE budget proposal that Assembly Speaker Herb Wesson put forward last week wasn't the most visionary document ever advanced in the Capitol.
But at least it tried to cover $5.9 billion of the state's budget gap. To offer it, the speaker had to cajole his Democratic colleagues into leaving their political comfort zone to propose cuts to health services, universities and local government.

Democrats still can't come to grips with the extent to which the state's revenues have fallen."One problem is that democRATs just plain do not care about the economic health of their constituencies, they only want to be the power over them.
Let me have the scimitar. I'd balance their silly budget. I'd eliminate many or most of the inflated government agencies and bureaucracies.

The chilly Republican reception he met explains a lot about why the Legislature's principal response to the $35 billion budget shortfall has been inaction and bluster.Blame the Republicans time!!!!!!

They really want to lock in as much of the spending increases that came during the equities bubble as possible. The Governor threw billions at constituencies he knew would kick and yell when the time for cuts arrived.
The liberal response? Raise the car tax, for example, and when people protested one pol' said, "Manage your finances. If you can't pay to operate a newer vehicle then sell it and buy an older one." Pure arrogance.
And no one listens when a guy like McClintock proposes a freeze on spending inreases and across the board reductions of 9.5%.
Hang tough, Republicans!
