SOme of it is so calming. I don't listen to music to be calmed, I listen to it to be stimulated. I listen to Ravel, Katchaturian, Rachmaninoff, Prokovieff, Villa-Lobos, Liszt, Wagner, Paganini...music to get the blood going!
To: ohioWfan

I am a fan of ragtime, early jazz, Billie H., Ella F., the Duke, the Count and Bix Biederback from Iowa, etc. Big Band standards are great too. How 'bout "The Divine" Miss Sarah Vaughn?

You're right. The music was great, but just not entirely fitting. There should have been at least one number of a patriotic nature. We are in a war, after all. Left me vaguely uneasy.
The number dedicated to the president was about drinking and anyone with a former drinking problem probably wouldn't appreciate it.

I thought the music was great. Great musicianship, great vocals. But there was an underlying of amonsity (sp?). Is that is good way to put it?
There was something missing. No great great American Song or patriotic song.
How can I say this? There was no "From Sea to Shining Sea".

Bluntly, I think Ray Charles blew it. He had an opportunity to hit a home run. And, I don't know why,
