They do not have to "throw away" their fleet, nor run 2 types of planes. They could sell their Airbuses, buy Boeings (heck, at this point, I's appreciate it if they'd buy Ilyushin) and build their Boeing fleet. They have about 3 times as many planes on order as they have in their current fleet....they could switch now. Flying only 1 model of planes make sense...but it does not mean that you can never switch which plane it is.
