I wish I had a list of the dumbest questions asked at the press conferences.Brooks at Centcom was also asked dumb questions. He handled himself well..I would have doubled over laughing at some of them.(Stunned disbelief on others.)

I'd hesitate to contemplate what our military can accomplish if Rummy spent four hours a day giving press briefings.(waaaaaa, snif) Only if he gives equal time to pretentious, arrogant, beaurocrates still fighting the Cold War so they can look like men too.
Saaay, like your name.

Hitler's germany used the "blitzkreig" as well, and did it much better, IMHO. Against France!!
At least the Iraqis put up more resistance than the French or Belgians did...

Thanks. Still waiting for a direct answer on my "making his point (?) to KIA's families."
Apparently another keyboard-hero bites the dust.

"Iraqis put up more resistance than the French"
Lesse, in 2 outings, we've had less than 500 KIA. The Germans lost 46,000 KIA France 1940, the lopsided victory. Oh, and 3.5 million KIA in WW I. Methinks the Iraqis have set new world records for surrendering. The French aren't even in the same league.

>Rummy is an idiot
Nothing amuses me more than uninformed armchair quarterbacks name-calling statesman with immense credentials like Rumsfield. If you want to retain any dignity at all when critiquing statesmen with far more experience and knowledge than yourself, employ reasoned opinion, not puerile name-calling.

Thanks for the ping, Fred. Some random thoughts:
I have a friend who speaks very highly of White. He served in Nam and the Pentagon with him. I'll say here what I told my friend, "It's about appearances and perceptions. If White is/was seen as a liabilty to W's re-election chances, there is only one choice."
As for Keane being Shinseki's replacement, I think that was announced just about a year ago (an unheard of lead time). That Keane has decided to retire, says to me the "war" inside the Pentagon is still raging. DA, at least, is going through a complete shake-up.
PS: What about Tommy Franks as the next CofS?
Also, the Arab-speaking 3-star could take over CENTCOM.
(Not only random, but early morning thoughts)
