And Peyton is described as a conservative, though to what degree I do not know.

Glover presided over a number of Sheriff's office scandals, including a ring of murder-for-hire cops, and an effort by his own son to frame a kid for murder. This last stunt cost the city close to a million dollars in an out-of-court settlement.

Peyton is supposedly strongly conservative; he won the primary over two "moderates" by claiming the conservative mantle, among other things, which the "moderates" didn't appreciate.

I presume that's why Delaney is so pissed off and strongly considering endorsing the 'Rat.

Well, Peyton is outside of the Establishment, and you know how establishment folks feel about that. I believe Delaney wasn't happen when Peyton supported the Fire Chief who Delaney has attacked, or vice versa. There's an article about it somewhere . . . I also think Delaney will not endorse said Democrat.

The Glover campaign, which also pursued Weinstein, contends the political views of Carlucci and Weinstein are closer to Glover than Peyton, who campaigned as a "true conservative."link

An interesting person to watch during all of the hoopla about Republican togetherness will be Mayor John Delaney. He's not talking about it, but he has to be torn. Glover is a close friend, and Peyton hasn't endeared himself to the mayor during the campaign, especially with Peyton's promise to the firefighters' union that he would oust Fire Chief Ray Alfred, a key Delaney appointment who the mayor thinks has done a superb job.
