I strongly urge the republicans state legislators to pass all of these. we cannot afford to have the Dems engineer some kind of meltdown in CA to effect the 2004 presidential election.

California Sucks

This is the worst list I have ever read! Incredible! CA is toast and they deserve to suffer for voting in a RAT gov and legislature. If there isn't a tax revolt there, it will be a miracle. Did y'all note that the leftist teachers union, the envirowackos and several pols with Latin names are sponsors of these taxes? Adios Calipornia!

"Where do you suggest they all run off to?" Don't know, man, but there has to be something better somewhere on the planet. But you may be onto something here. It could be that we've allowed ourselves to be cornered like a bunch of sheep with nowhere left to go. I hate to admit that but it certainly seems that way. What did the founders do?

Never understimate your enemies. Sun Tzu would be disappointed.

What shape would a tax-revolt take? Would there be incivility? Hmmm?

I heard that Fidelity is considering moving from Kalifornia to Jacksonville, Florida...did I mention that Florida has no state income tax? Kalifornia, how not to run a state.
To: AmericanAge
The demoRATS have become their own enemies, all the GOP has to do is sit back and say " see, I told ya so" when the meltdown hits.

Majority Vote for Legislative Tax Increases: Public Employee Unions. The California Federation of Teachers has suggested six revenue-raising measure, including: Emasculation of Proposition 13 by allowing the Legislature to raise taxes by majority votes of the Senate and Assembly. Also, the union wants the Legislature to be able to pass a budget bill by majority vote.If they F*CK with Prop 13 it will foment REVOLUTION. Arizona here we come.

Hey Joe,
Is there any serious talk of secession in California?
Is there any possibility at all for secession to be addressed by referendum?
Isn't there some way for normal California to disassociate itself from the Los Angeles and San Francisco sewers, maybe thrown them the 'burbs so they have a tax base (at least, for a little while)?

AB 0992 (Ridley-Thomas) Ammo Tax: 10 cents per Bullet.Imposes a 10 cents-per-bullet tax on ammunition sold to consumers, to fund trauma centers. This is nothing but an all out assault on the 2nd amendment. Hopefully someone will sue the living shit out of Kalifornia for this end run around.

Let me offer a comparison. I recently saw an old Saturday Night Live episode from during Bush's father's presidency. It was a parody of the lack of candidates willing to face him - they had all of the candidates out there trying to convince everyone *not* to nominate them for the presidency.
Clinton took the office.
Again, I'll repeat. Never underestimate your enemy. Just because we've taken the blinders off the public recently doesn't mean that they won't manage to put them back on again as they did in '92. Always keep on your toes.
To: old school
I'm telling you, this is a setup. This could play badly for Bush. The media will cover this meltdown as an "example" of what the economy has become under Bush (all lies of course, but they don't care). Imagine the coverage: the "poor" not getting their benefits, thousands of protesters, schools closed, maybe even a trigger for some kind of panic back into the financial markets for muni bonds. Its just not worth it, CA has no chance of going for Bush and there is almost no chance of defeating either Senator. CA just isn't worth sacrificing the rest of the country for. The Republicans should not stand in the way of the taxes need to avoid the crisis. Let the CA voters deal with it in their own statewide elections, else the people and businesses who want to leave should do so.
