Uh, the reason I posted those picts was to illustrate a point. Neither of those were "Maplethorp", sexually graphic, lude, R rated, or overly shocking in any way. I posted them in an attempt to link Nazi era modern art with the products of current left wing art. That is not something that can be done with text.
I agree that Moderators do and should remove whatever they feel is offensive, however, simply because "I_LOVE_MY_HUSBAND" doesn't like ugly, isn't a reason to limit a discussion. The precedent would allow any troll to shut down any argument they don't want expressed in an open forum.
Could either of you please Freepmail me with an explanation how the above post was a violation of board policy.

If it'll make you feel any better, they won't allow pictures of aborted fetuses, either. It's not my call; it's theirs; and I trust them with my life. Thanks for your comments, though - very much. For victory & freedom!!!

Pictures that offend do not belong on the forum.

The problem with your theory that Dadaism and other "transgressive" art somehow led to the rise of Naziism is the fact that the Nazis, in fact, hated that stuff. They suppressed it, burned it, and instead encouraged art akin to the "Social Realism" crap that the Soviets also pushed. Lots of idealized blond Aryan youths gazing off to the horizon. Hitler in full armor on a horse. Buxom blonde mothers with their children. Hitler's own paintings were pretty much conventional watercolors of cityscapes (with no people in them).
The other thing to remember is that these gay Nazis weren't mincing fag types. They were swaggering macho types who despised women as weak. They were the equivalent of the leather crowd in today's gays, only they were the product of a much more misogynistic culture, that separated men from women and raised them on manly virtues. Compare to the homosexuality of the Spartans or the Afghans.
Somewhere I came across of a book once about the early Nazi literature and art, and it was all Conan the Barbarian-type stuff.

How 'bout this. Does this make everyone sick enough to make the point? Without breaking the rules? (I don't believe I have ever had a comment removed in several years of Freeping)
