The Harrisburg Patriot News Decoursey reports that Senator Rick Santorums (R-PA) defenders are now under gag order.
White House and Republican National Committee officials told GOP insiders yesterday by conference call, voice mail and e-mail not to comment about Santorum's comments letting them speak for himself.

I stand corrected, but I was referring to the current crop of Republican Senators - Sentorum's peers.

Get over it. Trent is gone, and he did it to himself.

Karl Rove understands that when somebody's digging a hole, let him use his own shovel.Does this mean no bushbots on the Santorum threads?
To: ewing
Yep.
Jim Jordan was a big player in the DSCC for a while. He's now John F. Kerry's campaign manager. The reporter who MISQUOTED Santorum is his apparently his wife.

I stand 110% behind Santorum's assertions and his perspective designed to defend the institutions of our society rather than carve out further corrosions of the society, for special interest groups. States and state courts have been rolling back restrictions on sodomy for the last 20 years. Apparently the legislatures don't see the stricture or urgency that you do in having a law on the books that is not enforced.
If you're in favor of states retaining the right to proscribe sodomy, I suppose you're also in favor of the states simply ignoring the enforcement of the law.
I just don't see how a law that is not enforced is in anyway effective. If I know the local sheriff will let me go 20 miles over the speed limit, I will, more often than not, go 20 miles over the speed limit.

What Santorum effectively endorsed was spying on the sex practices of ordinary Americans (how else would such laws be enforced?). In the name of morality of course. That is so false. No one spied on those guys in Texas. A neighbor filed a false report. Otherwise, no one would know.

Sooner or later we're gonna have to stop sacrificing leaders on the alter of Political Correctness because, obviously, with each successive sacrifice the Left is further emboldend. Just look at how flimsy the grounds are here compared to the Lott matter. See the pattern? Hoping to slip quietly past the News Mag Cycle misses the point. Damn the News Cycle, at some point someone has to stand and fight!

No, as I recall, it was the gay outrage over the remark, not the content or legal brief it referenced.
As such, it was a concentrated attack and violation of his First Amendment rights.

Wrong! Wrong! Wrong!

Not the point.
His First Amendment rights are being attacked, and he is being harassed and discriminated for his religious beliefs.

Get over Lott's demotion. Folks like me who wanted him booted for his supidity did NOT force Lott to say what he said that got broadcast over C-SPAN.
Santorum's case is different in that the fault is squarely with the reporter. Take a look at the links in Post 54.
This reporter has some explaining to do, if you want my opinion. That misquote reflected poorly on Senator Santorum, and given her connection to the campaign manager of one of the Democratic front-runners, I am wonderign what else might be up.

How's this:
"I support the troops, but I don't support the war in Iraq"
compare to:
"I have nothing against homosexuals, but I have a problem with the homosexual act"
What's the difference? Nothing.
Unless you happen to practice a religious faith and happen to be a Republican.
To: sinkspur
Hey Sinkspur. Not too long ago you were condemning in strongest terms homosexual priests. Looks like you changed your tune. Do you believe now that homosexual priests ought not be punished? You were demanding that the bishop open files regarding this behavior, were you not?

That's right! All the tolerance is toward the aberrant Left. There is no tolerance for conservative rhetoric.
