And that alone is a fascinating story.

>>In my mind, no "man" who could contemplate something like this deserves contact - and likely brought about the circumstances that caused her to find someone else for support and protection.<<

In my mind, he does. He is, after all, a flawed human being, as are all of us. If I may quote Lewis one more time: "The sins of the flesh are bad, but they are the least bad of all sins. All the worst pleasures are purely spiritual: the pleasure of putting other people in the wrong, of bossing and patronising and spoiling sport, and back-biting, the pleasures of pwer, of hatred. For there are two things inside me, competeng with the human self which I must try to become. They are the Animal self, and the Diabolical self. The diabolical self is the worse of the two. That is why a cold, self-riteous prig who goes regualarly to chruch may be far nearer to hell than a prostitute. But, of course, it is better to be neither."

Some men who have done things you would never contemplate, have done so under stresses you, personally, have yet to imagine.

I repeat, "there but for circumstance go I." Or, "There, but for the grace of God go I."

Indeed. I believe there was a movie about this part of his life?

I simply do not accept the 'flawed' human being theory that has cast a shadow on men's souls since the Dark Ages. Along with the notion of "original sin," it does nothing more than give man a way to overlook his sins and rationalize his shortcomings... as he does so very often. Far from grovelling monsters, God conceived a beautiful creation of beings in God's own image. Why do we insist on believing that we are evil first and must choose to be good. Does it not make more sense to believe that we are immaculate creatures and that must choose to be evil.

Human shortcomings are not a virtue. Just as the word implies, shortcomings are instances of beings falling short of achieving the natural state of humanity... goodness.

Yes....I couldn't remember the name; that was an excellent movie, IMHO.

Sorry to butt in like this, (I know this story on this thread is tragic) but I could not help but think of a line in the movie "My Big Fat Greek Wedding."

The man is the head, but the woman is the neck. And she turns the head any way she wants.

If your friend of a friend was out to kill someone, I wonder why he didn't chose his cheating wife or her abusive boyfriend?

Bingo!

There is a great deal of truth in that, when done carefully it is very productive.

The family court system will literally twist a mans concept of reality. The man IS ultimately responsible for his actions, but plenty of men have been made crazy.

Here in Seattle, we didn't have metal detectors at the court house until the following event happened:

A middle aged, never been married, mild mannered Boeing engineer got himself an Asian mail order bride. She got pregnant and immediately tried to divorce him. He was getting taken to the cleaners by the court. You know the drill.

Anyway, this guy had no criminal record whatsoever. He was well liked and good at his job.

So on one court date, his wife shows up at the courthouse with her local female “handlers.” He shows up with a pistol. In the courtroom, he shoots them all dead and drops the gun. This is embarrassing, but I don’t remember how his murder trial ended up.

Human beings are potentially very dangerous. What family court does to otherwise placid males is the equivalent of poking a domesticated bear with a cattle prod.

The results can actually be quite predictable sometimes.
