I went to art college (CCAD) and I'm an illustrator by profession.

Great article, good find and dead on!

During my time in school all of us students who worked hard at classical drawing and painting were refered to as 'art whores'.

I finally feel somewhat vindicated, thanks for posting.

While this is a great article , it loses something when you realise how much this guy has vested in talking up the value of 19th Century artists since he has a major collection of the same.

Surely, if all he says is true then the the same applies to all the other schools that are post-byzantine, not just 19th Century European, ie the "500 years of experience" he refers to.
