I disagree fully. I think Senator McCain (as someone pointed out, 5.5 years as a prisoner) is a shining example of quality of life after his release.

I will have to see if I can find that one. I love Jack Lemmon. He was so adorable. "Some Like It Hot" is one of my all-time favorites.

And wasn't Admiral Stockdale a POW for 7 years?

I actually logged on to give an update on Baghdad. Bob Arnot with MSNBC just checked in with a lot of info. He said one of our soldiers fell on a grenade to protect his fellow soldiers and a little Iraqi girl! This soldier must have his leg amputated now. What a hero! Furthermore, the Saudis came to visit and help get medical care for the children in Iraqi hospitals. Bob said the SAUDIS said "This is not an occupied country! It is a liberated country!" Bob said as he and the marines were flying to the hospitals, they were shot at with RPG's. He will have more later.

Not to mention, I live with a disabling disease, no cure. My quality of life may not be the best, but I wouldn't dare suggest less quantity. Everyday that God sees fit for me to get out of bed, walk, work, cook another dinner with my kids, is such a blessing.

I correct myself: Admiral Jim Stockdale was a POW for 8 years.

LOL! You are sweet.

Here's a thread I found and it's a little more recent, but no real new information. Whatever happened to those mysterious cargo ships?

Here's something else interesting that was in the CNN article (yes, I strayed into Mordor).
Scrawl may offer clue to missing Gulf War pilot
In the scrawled letters, between the two "s" letters there is a small "h." And above the letters "M.S.S." are the initials "M.J.N." It was not clear when any of the letters were written.
It looks like a headless stick figure next to the second "S."

WoW! Amazing report.

I had to read the first part of your post twice, because at first I was thinking, "Didn't she say this was a post about Baghdad Bob?" LOL!

Note to self= Periods denote the end of a sentence.

Fox just reported that North Korea has admitted to having newclearair weapons. Imagine that.

__________

I understand what you are saying....
I guess what I am trying to say, is that during the confinement (or ordeal, or whatever) that I personally haven't seen belief systems change the outcomes. I don't believe in prolonging suffering, especially if the end result is death or at best, a poor quality of life.....

Quality of life being something that can only be defined by the person (ie, if I couldn't dance anymore).

CNN just had a expert on about Speicher and she said we are not seeing everything that is on that wall......there may be other things he wrote as an identifier.

I saw that M. J. N.

Re: Letters M, J, N:

I was thinking, if there were two M's and a J, and were written with the same stuff as the M.S.S, that could be the initials of his two children (michael and megan), and his wife, Joanne. Maybe that N is another M?

I know! I read it after I posted it and did not think I put a period at first. I read it as Baghdad Bob too! Arnot said he has shot a lot of film and I will have more tonight. He seems to be THRILLED and can't wait to report all he is experiencing. You know, Fox was going to have a followup report on Baghdad Bob yesterday as they were walking around his office but so far I haven't heard any more. Maybe it is hushed up for now.

Thank you for the Dr. Bob update. Bless that soldier-hero....and the Saudis admitting that we are liberators.

Between the military press and the embeds - America might get a fair idea of the situation in Iraq...without the help of a mainstream news media that can't seem to find the many good news stories in free Iraq today.

I think you have to look at it as remembering that God must have a plan for you if you are still alive in a torture situation. Whether it be a witness to His Glory, or anything else, there is a reason you are still alive.

And, using your example of dancing. I was an xray tech, very young, when I was diagnosed with the disease I have. I had to give up everything I loved doing, including the job that I cherished. If it weren't for faith, I would be dead now.

I went to work the morning I suffered the acute injury (which led to the diagnosis I have now), carried my 4yo daughter into the babysitter's. By that night, I could no longer pick her up.
