Rep. Martin Frost's (D) aide identified in theft video from Texas redistricting hearing
Republican Party of Texas Press Release | 4/23

Posted on 04/23/2003 8:10:40 PM PDT by GOPcapitalist

AUSTIN – Susan Weddington, Republican Party of Texas Chairman, today called on Congressman Martin Frost, D-Arlington, to cooperate with the Department of Public Safety’s investigation into the theft of a state employee’s property.

On April 10, a folio containing congressional redistricting maps was stolen from a committee room in the state capitol. The folio and its contents belong to a GOP legislative aide. DPS has video footage of three men, including one identified as Frost senior aide Gerry Hebert, apparently leaving the committee room with the loot. Shortly after the theft, Rep. Frost produced one of the purloined maps to reporters in Washington, D.C.

“Martin Frost has an obligation to cooperate fully with the Department of Public Safety’s investigation and should immediately explain how he obtained this stolen map,” said Weddington. “If Rep. Frost knew that he was in possession of stolen goods, he has violated Texans’ trust and his most sacred responsibilities as a public servant.”

DPS is investigating the theft as a class B misdemeanor, punishable by up to a $2,000 fine and 180 days in jail. If the pilfered goods were transported from Texas to Washington, D.C., the crime may be a federal offense.

Ratliff Wentworth Duncan Janek Averitt Brimer and as of late, Carona

Wentworth does not belong on this list. He is RINO all the way. He is not trying to "get along". He is trying to sabotage the Republican, and especially the pro-life, causes to the best of his abilities.

I believe Frost was mentioned as a possible opponent for Pelosi/MiniLeader at first, but then said he wouldn't run, and at that point Ford jumped in.

He was definitely talked up for the fundraising whatever office, but declined interest in that, and Pelosi picked Rep. Matsui instead of Bill Jefferson, who the AACaucus wanted.

People in Dallas don't get that much frost during the winters, some years more than others. But they have their Martin Frost, always willing to offer them federal largesse at their own expense. People in Dallas will say "How high" when Martin Frost tells them to jump! Many honestly think Martin Frost is "up there" fighting for them! Forget the idea of Dallas conservatism. It is no more.

Without checking the record, I believe that Texans gave us Martin Frost on the same day that the American people gave us GA Jimmy. Or, it may be that Frost was first elected in 1978, instead of 1976. But he is a long-term incumbent adored by the Dallas citizenry. Sometimes it is hard to find a credible Republican challenger to take him on.

But it is my understanding that Dick Armey's successor "is no Dick Armey!" Am I right. I can't recall the man's name, but I understand that he is right out of the "Rodney King" tradition of TX Republicanism.

The best we could ever dream would be to "pair" Frost and Johnson in the same district. Then see who the voters favor?

Dr Michael Burgess is a physician.Apparently strong credentials and is co-sponsoring a bill for a flat tax in the Armey tradition. I will be attending a soiree for him on Monday and will report back on my observations,if you like.

Dr. Burgess is the one who defeated Armey's son in the Republican primary in 2002. I had read that he was in the tradition of State Senator Jeff Wentworth, R-San Antonio. Perhaps he is more conservative than I had recalled. Is Burgess prolife?

Dr. Burgess is a protege of Senator Jane Nelson (who is no RINO). In fact, he delivered her children. He is a conservative pro-life congressman.

His victory over little Scott was greatly celebrated by North Texas conservatives as little Scott was no Dick Armey.

Is it mandatory that the DA bring the charges? Several years ago we hired a lawyer to bring a case to court. The commonwealth's attorney, who should have presented our side of the case, was the ex-brother-in-law of the defendent. When we found out how the case was being handled in his favor, we hired someone else and won. Is is possible for the republicans to do the same in Texas?

It is possible in Texas for a private attorney to take a criminal case to the grand jury for an indictment and specially prosecute it. It is very rare. The bigger problem will be getting a conviction for a RAT politico in the People's Republic of Travis County.

I thought that I had read that conservatives divided up their votes in the 2002 primary for the House seat vacated by Dick Armey and that the "moderate" Burgess therefore won the nomination. So, he is more conservative than I thought? I know that when Jack Fields of Houston retired, an abortion supporter named Brady won in Fields' district because of such conservative divisions, but I suspect that the configuration of that district is now quite different than it was in 1994.

Dr. Burgess won because many North Texans were disgusted by Congressman Armey's back-handed attempt to hand-off his congressional seat to his son. Congressman Armey waited until right near the filing deadline to announce his retirement.

I have never heard of Dr. Burgess being a moderate (particularly since he had Jane Nelson's support). I suspect some of that was scuttlebut from the Armey camp who were trying to deflect the negative press about Scott Armey.

LONE STAR ANNIE WROTE: "I live in this creep's district as of the latest redistricting. He is beneath pond scum and will lie, cheat and steal with the best of them. I sure hope the legislature redistricts this creep into oblivian. We have a great GOP candidate that ran against him last time but was very underfunded."

Didn't attorney Mike Rivera Ortega (sp?) run against Frosty the StoleMan?

But he is a long-term incumbent adored by the Dallas citizenry.

That would be the Ft. Worth/Tarrant County citizenry which one would think would be even more unlikely. That is why the gerrymandering of districts, which I thought was unconstitutional, is so prevalent.

Yes Mike Rivera Ortega ran against Frosty. He was the best to date. Grad of Air Force Academy, Marine pilot, Grad of Univ of Texas Law School, and very strong pro-life and Latino to boot.

Hope he runs again. We could really use him in the House.

I have met Mike several times. I like Mike! (Sounds like a catchy campaign chant, doesn't it?)

Martin "Frosty the StoleMan" Frost is definitely NO Mike Rivera Ortega! Frosty doesn't have clean enough hands to even wipe Mike Rivera Ortega's...boots!...(or ANYTHING else)

I agree completely with your assessment. Mike would make a GREAT choice for U. S. Rep in place of Frosty!

The GOP needs to remember the Rule of Law and deal with any thief by the law. No policital criminal should ever be allowed to serve in an elected positon again. The GOP is weak and is afraid to use the law. They just want to protect their elected positions. Remember Nixon? What happened to him? Just do what is right for the people and our society.
