Dr. Burgess is a protege of Senator Jane Nelson (who is no RINO). In fact, he delivered her children. He is a conservative pro-life congressman.

His victory over little Scott was greatly celebrated by North Texas conservatives as little Scott was no Dick Armey.

I thought that I had read that conservatives divided up their votes in the 2002 primary for the House seat vacated by Dick Armey and that the "moderate" Burgess therefore won the nomination. So, he is more conservative than I thought? I know that when Jack Fields of Houston retired, an abortion supporter named Brady won in Fields' district because of such conservative divisions, but I suspect that the configuration of that district is now quite different than it was in 1994.
