We had an obnoxious biology teacher whose chair and desk ended up suspended five feet in the air, duct-taped to the water pipes which hung from the ceiling. That's as far as we went. A few years after I graduated, one of his classes got out of hand, and some "youths" carried him outside and piled him head-down in a dumpster. Today's young are not only brutal, but they lack subtlety.

…doors to their classrooms were found super-glued shut.

In my experience, super-glue (QuickGel, Krazy Glue, etc) isn’t the best thing in the world to use. Unless it’s double-bitted the pins are in the top of the lock and you can’t do much more than temporarily foul them up. (IOW, the pins aren’t glued into the cylinder – the bottom of the lower pins are fouled up in the plug.) You can often get a key blank and smack it in with a small ball peen hammer and break them loose.

They used to have some JB Weld-type two part epoxy that came in a double syringe dispenser. That sort of thing would be bad news and would require changing a bunch of locks. But super glue is light and runny and I can’t see how it’d require anything more than changing pins/springs at most - and probably nothing more than breaking things loose with a blank.

Then again, with labor prices it might just be cheaper to replace them. Sort of like how it’s cheaper to just replace a starter rather than farting around and replacing brushes/bearings, etc.

Amateurs. You don't superglu the locks (which can be easily cleaned with nail polish remover, superglu really isn't that cool)) you E6000 the actual doors to the frame. If you're really good you do both sides the latch and hinge side of the door.

When I was in high school a bunch of us loved playing pranks and tricks. We must have been unusual because we had a standing rule that none of our jokes could do real damage to property or harm people.

As to vandalism, I despise it. I consider vandalism worse than theft. At least the thief obtains something of value. I would also punish vandalism much more strictly.

I once took a course in park design and one of the things covered was how to avoid vandalism. The thing which really struck me was the book stated that vandalism in parks was practically unknown before WWII.

I always wondered what occurred around that time to make the change in society.

In high school we performed a physics experimenet. One of my friend's family was in the masonry business. He had a .22 caliber nail gun in his car. One night while working on the yearbook we nailed the physics teacher into his room with a 2x4. Can you imagine how much trouble a kid could get into with a nail gun at school these days?

Seniors, in one of my son's class, put a Volkswagon Beetle on the school roof. They took the engine out and hoisted it up. Next morning, there it was -- high on the roof. HeeHee!

This is humorous, though hopefully they are caught so taxpayers aren't stuck with the tab.

School officials say they hope that whoever is responsible for the damage will brag to their friends with word eventually getting to them so they can apprehend the vandals.

School officials say they hope that whoever is responsible for the damage will be too uninterested in their prank to even read the newspaper article about it.

What would you guess, $100 per lock to repair? Not an insignificant $12,000.
