It may be rock n'roll, but we don't like it
Tue Apr 22, 6:15 PM ET

CHICAGO (AFP) - Their albums may have gone platinum but a concert by popsters Creed left some fans distinctly unimpressed -- so much so they sued for a refund.

Four fans that attended a December 2002 concert by Creed outside Chicago filed a class action lawsuit in circuit court here Monday seeking two million dollars in damages from the band, its promoters, and the ticket-sellers.

The disgruntled concertgoers allege in court papers that the band's lead singer Scott Stapp was so "intoxicated and/or medicated that he was unable to sing the lyrics of a single Creed song."

"Instead ... Stapp left the stage on several occasions during songs for long periods of time, rolled around on the floor of the stage in apparent pain or distress and appeared to pass out while on stage during the performance."

The rocker's condition was clearly a result of an earlier drink or drugs binge, but the other band members and the concert promoters decided to press on with the concert anyway, the suit alleges.

The band later apologized to fans for any disappointment caused by "the most unique of all Creed shows," but urged them to remember "It's only rock and roll," in a message posted on their website.

But that doesn't appear to have cut much ice with the four plaintiffs who are looking to recoup the 227 dollars they shelled out on tickets and parking fees.

In total the suit, filed in Cook County Circuit Court, seeks in excess of 2 million dollars for the 15,000 fans who attended the December 29 concert at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois, from Creed, Ticketmaster (the organisation that sold the tickets) and promoters, Jeff Hanson Management and Promoters Inc.

Didn't Bob Dylan do an entire decade of concerts without managing to sing the lyrics of a single song?

Great. I just threw down loot for tickets to see his kid. I sure hope the Wallflowers show is better than pop's.

Believe me, CyberAnt gave some good advice. It would be prudent to listen to it.

It is a rather deep theological point, but the Bible says that "the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable." That is, once God chooses someone as His messenger, that's it. The messenger can screw up and make a mockery of himself and God, maybe even to the point that God no longer uses him; but God's calling is still on the person.

Read about David and Saul sometime (I Samuel). It is quite instructive.

"Dazed and Confused" is so accurate, it's creepy. I could have sworn that Richard Linklater was filming my high school.

"Let me tell you what Melba Toast is packin right here, alright. We got 411 Positrac outback, 750 double-pumper Edelbrock intakes, bored over 30, 11-to-1 pop-up pistons, turbo-jet 390 horsepower. We're talkin' some f*ckin muscle."

You're talking about paying to see Jason Dylan, right?

I have a friend who swears that Tom Petty is Bob Dylan's illegitimate son. He has good evidence, including their teeth and their singing style.

You should like the Wallflowers show. A very good band that should be more popular than they are.

Bob Dylan is actually not that crummy in concert anymore. But I would still much rather listen to his CDs than to see him sing in person.

I am almost certain that D&C is actually a collection of home movies my buddies took of us in the late 1970s. They spliced them together and put it in theaters.

Bet they owe me some royalties, too.

This guy is a great singer...I mean great. He was on O'Reilly's show once pleading that there are some rock groups who have positive influence on teens. I can't believe this really happened.

And ... come on... 2 million bucks...give me a break. Where on earth do teens come up with the idea that because they weren't "ENTERTAINED" enough, they deserve compensation? This country is insane.

You have been injured, and I can help you receive the compensation you deserve.

Okay, a friend of mine who's a lawyer can help.

Or something. :)

The problem with a majority of modern TV evangelicals is they care more about crowds and money than they do about preaching Biblical truth. Thats all about change. When the super-annointed, perfected Sons of God appear (the ones who will be able to say, if you have seen me, you have seen Christ), the world will quickly forget about TV evangelists, conflicting doctrines, Islam, etc., as the Army marches through the Earth removing all traces of the devil's works including sinful habits, sickness, disease, and the last enemy death.

"For the whole creation (including plants and animals) groans and trvials, waiting for the manifestation of the Sons of God"
