It may be rock n'roll, but we don't like it

CHICAGO (AFP) - Their albums may have gone platinum but a concert by popsters Creed left some fans distinctly unimpressed -- so much so they sued for a refund.
Four fans that attended a December 2002 concert by Creed outside Chicago filed a class action lawsuit in circuit court here Monday seeking two million dollars in damages from the band, its promoters, and the ticket-sellers.
The disgruntled concertgoers allege in court papers that the band's lead singer Scott Stapp was so "intoxicated and/or medicated that he was unable to sing the lyrics of a single Creed song."
"Instead ... Stapp left the stage on several occasions during songs for long periods of time, rolled around on the floor of the stage in apparent pain or distress and appeared to pass out while on stage during the performance."
The rocker's condition was clearly a result of an earlier drink or drugs binge, but the other band members and the concert promoters decided to press on with the concert anyway, the suit alleges.
The band later apologized to fans for any disappointment caused by "the most unique of all Creed shows," but urged them to remember "It's only rock and roll," in a message posted on their website.
But that doesn't appear to have cut much ice with the four plaintiffs who are looking to recoup the 227 dollars they shelled out on tickets and parking fees.
In total the suit, filed in Cook County Circuit Court, seeks in excess of 2 million dollars for the 15,000 fans who attended the December 29 concert at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois, from Creed, Ticketmaster (the organisation that sold the tickets) and promoters, Jeff Hanson Management and Promoters Inc.

Hmmmm....and I thought Creed was supposed to be a Christian group. Maybe the lead singer was in one of the Benny Hinn-iduced-Holy Spirit-convulsions.....hmmmmmmmm.

What's the statute of limitations on refunds-plus interest-plus pain & suffering for drunken rock singer concerts?
We'd make a killing on Jim Morrison alone. Add to the pain & suffering the uninvited extra visuals at the Miami concert, and we're talking money.

Gosh, if I got two million for every drugged-out band I ever saw when I was a kid, I'd be very, very wealthy! ;-)

Okay, it all started in 1977 with J Geils Band, Mother's Finest and Foghat....

The disgruntled concertgoers allege in court papers that the band's lead singer Scott Stapp was so "intoxicated and/or medicated that he was unable to sing the lyrics of a single Creed song." Didn't Bob Dylan do an entire decade of concerts without managing to sing the lyrics of a single song? I think he just incoherently mumbled through them. He's better now though.

Ever seen the movie "Dazed and Confused?" That was my life as a teenager. I saw it on TV and was stunned at how close it was. I am convinced whoever wrote it was in my high school at the same time as I.

The article states they are looking to recoup the cost of parking and the ticket, not 2 mil apiece.

Scott Stapp left the, I believe, Methodist church after some sort of fallout. It's his sort of Biblical appearance, long hair and all that, and ballad style that led to the "Christian band" moniker. I like a lot of their tunes, but they seriously need to get a bassist.

As an aside, Stapp's youth pastor is an associate pastor in my church (AOG). I think Stapp and his family were/are AOG.

Can I give you a little friendly advice: don't be bad mouthing GOD's servants. GOD takes it personal!
To prove my point, GOD said, "touch not God's anointed". And ... words do touch people!
You don't have to agree with Benny Hinn or anything he does, but don't be smearing his name.
