Take 5 Minutes and Write Your Congressman or Senator NOW

Posted on 04/22/2003 4:20:35 PM PDT by Mean Daddy

Rush Limbaugh is right, we've got to stop acting like we lost and start acting like we're winners. Take 5 minutes to write (not email) your concerns to your congressman or senator on Bush's tax cut, Miguel Estrada campaign etc.

I work for an insurance company and one of our lobbyists told me once that congressmen and senators take notice when they get hand written, snail mailed letters. Post cards and emails are sorted by pro/con, weighed or counted and tossed. A hand written letter still gets their attention.

Be polite and get your point across. Calling the person an a-hole may make you feel better, but it will get tossed.

Limbaugh's right, we got these guys on the ropes, let's knock them out once and for all.

TOPICS: Your Opinion/Questions
KEYWORDS: bushtaxcuts; estrada
Any suggestions on what to include in the letters would be appreciated. Example: I wrote Harkin (D-IA) and told him that it was unconstitutional what the Democrats were doing with Estrada's nomination.

I also wrote Grassley (R-IA) and urged him to support all of the President's tax cut, not the $350 billion being proposed.

Unfortunely, I would be wasting 10 minutes of my life, assuming it's 5 minutes for each senator..... I have Hillary and her underling Schumer.......

For our Union freepers, contact your union leaders and tell them to support Bush as he supports drilling in the ANWR and that means more jobs, union and non-union. These guys have got to get the message that Republicans are pro-work, not the Demorats.

No e-mail? Why not? Don't Congresspersons love reading spam as much as I do?

Now you know how I feel with Harkin. If each senator or congressman saw a trend that showed the voters were supporting Bush, they may be convinced to switch.

The Klintoons for example are notorious on watching poll data. If the wind blew the other way by way of correspondence that she was getting, she'd change in a heart beat.

Say you are unsure about your sexuality at the end of your letter. That will get you an honest, caring response.

I remember hearing that less than 1% of America ever contacts their Congressmen but Congressmen give weighty attention to correspondence to them.

You are absolutely right.

I've had an ongoing corrorsondence/debate on gun control with Diane Feinswine, my dim senator for years now.

She'll never admit she's wrong, of course, but she does bother to respond.

That tells me she at least does read my letters.

Thanks for the post!

Once you've written that letter, fax it. Written material takes a while to get through the de-anthraxing process. Faxes are looked at much more quickly. I was given this advice from a congressman's staff when I contacted them to get a congratulatory letter for a young man in our Troop who made Eagle.

What about if I call him a spineless demonrat a-hole?

I've called my senators many times on many issues, but since both are female mouthpieces for the RAT party and Hitlery, I don't get anywhere plus I'm not from Seattle (King County) which elected these two idiots in the first first place.

I have written Virginia's Senators Allen and Warner (R-VA both) and Representative Virgil Goode (R-VA 5th dist.) about getting the U.S. out of the U.N and about taxes and about the judical nominees and a host of other things.

They all write back with letters thanking me and explaining in detail that they are supporting and voting exactly what I'm concerned about. I don't know what else to do. They're all conservatives.

Nope. Won't work here. They are both shakey, and could fall to either side at any moment.
