Actor Rick Schroder on President Bush: "He's a Fantastic Guy"
MRC ^ | Tuesday April 22, 2003 | BrentBaker

Saturday's Names & Faces column in the Washington Post, compiled by Matt Kane, included this item:

Rick Schroder, the child star formerly known as Ricky, really digs nature. The onetime "NYPD Blue" star was in town yesterday, shovel in hand, taking part in Interior Secretary Gale Norton's national volunteer Take Pride in America program.

It "inspires people to take pride in parks," Schroder told us while planting trees alongside Mayor Tony Williams and schoolchildren in Watts Branch Park. "I've been involved with these issues for the past 12 years because I have a cattle ranch."...

Schroder, who is not shy about his conservative views, also met with President Bush during his brief D.C. stint. "He's a fantastic guy, let me tell you that," Schroder said. "I told him I wanted to help him get reelected."

Schroder's comments follow another second-tier celebrity praising President Bush. As recounted in the April 12 CyberAlert, on NBC's Last Call with Carson Daly, Shannen Doherty extolled her love for Donald Rumsfeld, said she's "a big supporter of President Bush" and revealed that on her refrigerator she displays a picture of herself with Ari Fleischer. See: http://www.mediaresearch.org/cyberalerts/2003/cyb20030412.asp#6

END of Excerpt

Schroder starred as "Detective Danny Sorenson" on NYPD Blue from 1998 to 2001 and also starred in the early '80s sit-com Silver Spoons and later in the Lonesome Dove mini-series.

CUT TO MILLER HBO with MAHER

When liberal author/professor Michael Eric Dyson complained on HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher on Friday night about how President Bush went to war in a crusade of Christianity over Islam as evidenced by how Bush "bows his head to God and prays to God," actor/comedian Dennis Miller fired back with an anti-Clinton quip: "At least he's not bowing his head to watch..."

Bravo for Rick Shroeder and Dennis Miller!

As for Michael Eric Dyson - keep talking, you're revealing yourself as a first class idiot! I will never watch Maher again (unless of course Ann is on!). He's got a one-man show coming up in May in New York. Who would pay to see this guy?

Liberals have tried to co-opt wildlife conservation with some success. However Teddy Roosevelt really put it into play during his presidency.

As a conservative I consider myself an enviromentalist. But there is a world of difference between a liberal and conservative enviromentalist.

Kill it and Grill it.

I admire Rick's courage.

This probably means he has already worked his last day in Hollywood.

He can live quite well, however, off residuals. Unless SAG figures out some way to strip him of those for his political beliefs....

I'm not surprised.

He quit Hollywood to be with his wife and children.

Saw Ray Liotta on The View today and he said he was happy he was for the war in Iraq but feared he would not have another job!!

He did not say he was a Bush backer, but being one of the few in Hollywood to say he was for the war, pretty much says he is for Bush's policies.

Good post. NYPD Blue was an excellent show before Caruso left (1994). Unfortunately the crime shows of today, such as "CSI"; "CSI, Miami"; "Boomtown", etc. push politically correct agenda's. There was nothing P.C. about NYPD Blue circa 1993/94.

I'm waiting for CBS to pick up "CSI, Damascus" and "CSI, Gaza Strip". <\sarcasm>

Hey, Merry10, fellow Ventura Freeper! Agree with you on this one. NYPD lost something When Schroeder left. Tried watching a few times. No more zing.

Ronald Reagan, Robert Taylor, William Holden, and Robert Cummings were the best of friends in their Hollywood days. They were all staunch conservatives.

Wow...that one shocked me! I thought she was a "wild child" aka a liberal.

William Holden was a standup guy.

Kind of ironic given the way he died.

A friend of mine worked on a movie with Rick Schroder. He said Rick was a wonderful person. Where you might expect everyone to be getting to know him, it was the other way around. Rick would go out of his way to meet everyone on the set and actually get to know them. He made sure the attention was on whoever he was speaking to. A wonderful example for all of us.
