It's kind of stupid but as a younger man, I had a friend in college who would make the emphatic proclamation "Evaryday is Earth Day!" right before he tossed his empties.

I did it as a Saudi and this is what I got.

CATEGORY GLOBAL HECTARES

FOOD 0.4

MOBILITY 0

SHELTER 0.3

GOODS/SERVICES 0.2

TOTAL FOOTPRINT 0.9

IN COMPARISON, THE AVERAGE ECOLOGICAL FOOTPRINT IN YOUR COUNTRY IS 4.1 GLOBAL HECTARES PER PERSON.

WORLDWIDE, THERE EXIST 1.8 BIOLOGICALLY PRODUCTIVE GLOBAL HECTARES PER PERSON.

IF EVERYONE LIVED LIKE YOU, WE WOULD NEED 1.0 PLANETS.

Here are my results:

CATEGORY ACRES
FOOD 4.2
MOBILITY 1.2
SHELTER 5.7
GOODS/SERVICES 4.7
TOTAL FOOTPRINT 16

IN COMPARISON, THE AVERAGE ECOLOGICAL FOOTPRINT IN YOUR COUNTRY IS 24 ACRES PER PERSON.

(ie, the USA)

WORLDWIDE, THERE EXIST 4.5 BIOLOGICALLY PRODUCTIVE ACRES PER PERSON.

IF EVERYONE LIVED LIKE YOU, WE WOULD NEED 3.6 PLANETS.

I recycle, bicycle, use public transport, and eat little processed food.

But I do have a full size van that gets 14 mpg.

One drawback, among many, in this test, is that no consideration is made for how productive a person or a country is. If the whole world were as productive as the US, we'd have enough energy and wealth to recycle and reuse to a far greater extent.

Hmmm, I better sell three quarters of my house, cut off my electricity, tear out all our plumbing, grow my own fruits and vegetables, sell my cars, travel by horse, and then the earth would be saved.

It's selfish people like us, Freepers, who want to poison the water, poison the air, and kill children.

Sheesh-- filled it out as a comatose native living in a jungle in Brazil and still used more than one planet. Guess only being dead is ecologically correct. Or maybe they automatically penalize you for reading English.

8.1 planets

But, I ran over a Raccoon this morning so it is most likely a false reading.

This is as pointless as trying to stop bulldozers with our bodies.
