I disagree with Charlie on the war, but he's spot on regarding Hannity.
I heard the show Reese is referring to in the article. It was a disgrace. Hannity actually said something along the lines of, "big deal, so we broke a bunch of stupid clay pots."

big deal, so we broke a bunch of stupid clay pots."And, just how many US lives are YOU willing to lose the protect those "pots"?
Sure, I agree that in the interest of history & such, that it would wonderful to have saved them. HOWEVER, it is secondary to the removal of Saddam & his thugs.
Ya thinks it's POSSIBLE, that all this crying about the museum is coming from those on the left because there's NOTHING ELSE THEY CAN COMPLAIN ABOUT, OR TAKE ISSUE WITH?

Why was it responsibility of the US military to protect and defend the heritage of the Iraqi people? After WWII, the Japanese people never looted their own treasures, neither did the Germans. I would imagine that the US military had enough on their plate securing the future of the Iraqi people. The past should have been protected by the Iraqi people themselves.

Hannity actually said something along the lines of, "big deal, so we broke a bunch of stupid clay pots."Your wrong, and so is Charlie! Sean was referring to the FACT that the real left whiners were more concerned about this museum than Iraqi's being tortured and their lives!
Get a clue.

Whoo Hoo!! Finally, someone who agrees with me on Hannity. I can't stand him. I'm sure he's a nice fellow, but talk about whiney and stupid and there you have Sean Hannity.

"I disagree with Charlie on the war, but he's spot on regarding Hannity..."
Oh, horsepoop. This is empty ranting. No one in the anti-Bush camp raised a flag "be sure to protect that museum". NO ONE. We knew that Sadd Ass was going to blow the oil fields, so we protected them.

Well they are a bunch of clay pots, not worth the life of a soldier. It's not like they haven't been studied and photographed. I do not understand why the US doesn't point out the fact that that Iriqi's were holding this area and were firing on US troops when this serious looting was taking place.

big deal, so we broke a bunch of stupid clay pots."There is a lot of stuff that didn't get broken that could have, Especially in the rterms of lives and property. The Left can't get over the successes of the operation so they magnify what happened to some artifacts.

I agree with Puppage. I also look at it in a religious aspect. What would God be more happy with - that we protected a human life or we protected a thing of the world. Hey, sh** happens. When we look throughout history, how many artifacts never made it this far into history? Where are all the historical artifacts from Solomon's reigh? And I also look at it this way. These works of art were not created and then placed in this building. They were found throughout the ages. If whatever was stolen is not broken, then we can find it again and place it in another building when we do. Myself, I rather look after the welfare of people than things.
Concerning Hannity, I wish there was someone else I could listen to on my drive home from DC in the afternoon. He is such a bore and is historically ignorant.

I like how this guy starts his column w/ "this isn't conservative v. liberal" but then goes on to imply that President Bush is a) dumb and b) a warmonger and that everyone who supports the President is an idiot. Yeah Charlie, you are really non-partisan.

he's spot on regarding Hannity.Sean makes Rush look like king of the Mensa's.
But many on here want to see him run for Congress.
On second thought, maybe he'd raise the average I.Q.

#1: Does anybody actually believe there was anything left in that museum by the time we got there?
#2: When we were two days out of Baghdad, I don't recall Charlie Reese or anybody else saying that we had better be sure to protect Iraqi antiquities once we had taken the city. Monday morning quarterbacks don't score any touchdowns in the real game.

Are you sure you have not embelished his quote a little? He was making the comparison to lives we had liberated and saved.

You guys should put the blame where it belongs. The Americans didn't destroy the museum or the artifacts. The Iraqi people did. The Iraqi people were freed by us and what was one of the first things they did with their new found freedom - destroy their own museum and artifacts.
Put the blame where it belongs - on the Iraqi people.

We broke some clay pots and provided millions of people with freedom. Relatively.. the clay pots are not a big deal. Where one chooses to focus their attention shows where their priorities lie.

"big deal, so we broke a bunch of stupid clay pots." I wonder if we got blamed when the Nazi's confiscated great works of art...
