Well, I'm hurtin', but my wife is dyin'. And I still have a thirteen year old daughter who has LOVED being "an aunt" who's pretty busted up, too.

I hope we'll be able to get together a few times a year at least.

Oh boy, I feel so bad for you and your wife. My day is coming, I know that, and I don't know if I'll be able to hold up.....my Brad came home from the hospital, to this house and has been here ever since.

Hang in there.....do NOT get bitter. I don't know how old you guys are, probably not ancient (!), but have you considered doing some kind of work with kids? Sunday School? Nursery holding? ANYTHING to get your hands on a little one again...it will NOT be the same as holding your own, I know that....but I'll bet it will help.

We're not bitter--although there are a lot of things related to the situation that I can't go into on a public forum.

But it was simply a sudden decision. One day they were here, then *BOOM* the next day they were gone, practically.

Oh, and my wife teaches Second Grade, so that's one outlet for her. I teach ten year old Sunday School at church. Not tiny tots, but they're pretty precious at that age too.

Ugh. Which putrid local rag was this from? This disgusting mockery sounds like Stranger drivel.

I find the vitriol raised by this screed to be buffered back to neutrality by two simple observations: 1. the lack of believability that the wife of a soldier would be willing to defile herself with one of these local pro-Saddam hippy punks; and 2. the knowledge that, if this punk wasn't "anonymous" and had actually sent such a letter to any one soldier in particular, then, even though the events the punk describes are fictitious, the retribution wouldn't be.
