This is going to cost Bush and possibly the Pubbies the next election.

People are not spending in a way to spur the economy. IT and EE fields are experiencing an unemployment rate higher then the national average. IT people have been out of work for months at a time, and some even over a year.

The companies may indeed be saving themselves money by outsourcing overseas, but they are directly harming the economy.

The pubbies need to understand that the economy won't get better if new jobs are offshore and not here. It takes people spending money to get companies to hire and produce more goods. The companies are waiting for this spending to happen before taking financial risks. But shipping jobs offshore is helping to keep peoples spending at bay.

Basically, we are seeing "Trickle Down Economics" work -- but the trickle down happens to be overseas.

I know that for myself, being a die hard conservative, I will not vote for Bush or pubbies in the next round of elections if they do not stop this outsourcing problem.

I have to believe that the unemployment statistics don't paint the real picture. I know plenty of people who have been outsourced, find themselves taking a job often at slightly better than minimum wage, and yet these people aren't counted as unemployed. I'd love to see a comparison of real wages in I.T. over the last 5 years.

Geez, I feel so stupid now, having spent all that time to learn some economics: I should've asked you. It's all right there, in two sentences!

Gonna chuck in my pennies.

My company a "Small to mid" is building a factory in China.

Labor costs are about 1/7th the costs here in the stats.

I don't agree with it, but can my company remain viable without exporting the labor? Doubt it. Again, understand, I'd rather we stay stateside and damn the torpedoes.

We pay line labor about 8 bucks an hour...paying a buck/hour or about $220 bucks a month for labor is seducing. Furthermore the workers line up out the door to get it...in China.

I don't like it, but viability is dependant on it. Even if my company goes belly up, someone will fill the need. I like cheap prices for stuff as does everyone. I don't know the answer...wish I did.

SARS might "fix" it though. That's something that may reverse this outsourcing issue. Domestic costs at home will skyrocket if we have to pay a guy $20/hour to build TVs and DVDs, but in all, that may not be such a bad thing.

What I am about to write here will provide much controversy but I highly encourage you all to think about it. For all of us about to be outsourced here in the United States, what keeps us from training our replacements improperly, I mean why would you impart your knowledge, the same knowledge that has taken you years of hard work and money to acquire, to some moron from a foreign country who is going to replace you and leave you without a way to provide for your family all the while the company that is currently asking you to do this, is using some of your tax dollars to replace you? What this whole situation amounts to is corporate america asking you to tighten the noose around your own neck and hang yourself for them. I know that it is unethical for someone to not train a counterpart properly but it is also not ethical for a company to ask you to hang yourself. Remember that all is fair in business, love and war and that we are all at war with the corrupt crooks running corporate america. The power is in your hands if you wish you use it! The CIA would never give away their knowledge but they sure would give misinformation in order to topple a regime they thought needed it. I encourage you all to think about that. How funny would it be to watch corporate america trip and fall just like they have caused the citizens of this country to do?
