Hollywood actresses dribble bunk such as this because it makes the women who purchase those rags in the checkout stand feel better about themselves. "Gee, Halle Berry thinks she is ugly, too! She is just like me!"
I also wonder how the blonde, blue-eyed woman (who raised Halle Berry alone from the time that her black father abandoned her as a young child) feels every time Halle talks about how hard it is to be "black." Funny, I didn't see her daddy at the Acadamy Awards, only some WASP-ish looking woman beaming with pride. If being black is such a hardship, why does it give Ms. Berry such "street cred"?

What Halle said is a very common ploy among beautiful women to get compliments. She says she's ugly, and suddenly she gets lots of attention and adoration, proclaiming her beauty.
I was once a student in a modeling school, not because I was beautiful, but because my father insisted I go, and since he had the money, I was accepted, beautiful or not. I remember the absolutely stunning creatures I met there, who would constantly be fishing for compliments. "Oh dear!" they would exclaim, "how fat I am!" as I strained my eyes to see the non-existant fat. "My nose is too long!" another would pout, as I stared at a nose which was a perfect little inverted arch. "Eek! My legs are soooo fat!" another would exclaim to our walking teacher (yes, you read that right)as I stood dazed by the incongruity of what I heard from her, and what I saw, the student's long legs gracefully stepping like a cats, no imperfection in sight.
I finally left the school, explaining to my heartbroken father that his daughter was not 5'9" and not destined to be a world famous haute couture runway model. But all was not lost, because for my father's money I had discovered that beautiful women like to be constantly reassured of that fact. And that women without any visible fat on their bodies will stand in front of a mirror wailing that they are soon to be placed in the circus freak show as the fat lady, if they gain another ounce. I also learned how to walk down a runway gracefully and without falling, although I've yet to discover a use for that handy skill.
I also learned some other things about beautiful women, but since none are as complimentary as those above, I'll quit reminiscing.

Yeah Halle Berry is a real dog! /sarcasm
Anyone who thinks Halle Berry is ugly, needs to have their eyes checked or is jealous. She has a beautiful childlike features, high cheekbones, a thin lower jaw, large eyes wide set eyes, full lips , youthful skin and symmetry couldn't be better.

There are plagues, war and rumors of wars, starving people, and this rich uhhhhhhhhh huuuuum is worried she is ugly?
To: Pokey78
"To be totally honest, most of the time I think I'm ugly," Maybe it's a typo. Replace ugly with "dumb as a rock" and she's onto something.
Heck, the woman's not even black. Her mother is white. She either a mulatta or a morena, whatever designation you prefer. If I go on her scale then my kids are black (they're at most, moreno [if anyone asks, I'll just say they're American!]), even though I'm lilly-white.
I would suggest that she has trouble getting ahead in Hollywood because most people perceive her (correctly) to be an idiot.
Anyone with this much "baggage" would be a pain in the tail to work with.

Proof that she is indeed a woman.
I've never met a woman who didn't think she was ugly upon viewing herself in a photo. Endemic to the female sex.

"For many film studios and directors skin color remains a problem." Seems like Latinos were saying the same thing then Jennifer Lopez came along....
To: Pokey78
Three points:
1) I despise listening to pampered actresses tell everyone that they don't think that they are beautiful. Fishing for compliments really is not becoming (bump to Col Flag)
2) While she isn't ugly, I don't think that she's gorgeous either. Not my type.
3) The whole "I'm a victim of Hollywood racism" schtick is getting a bit wearisome. Thats how she Mau-maued her way into an oscar last year, and it seems like she is sticking with the same line of BS.

Halle is lovely, although I'm not surprised that she doesn't believe it. I think the reason she feels that way is probably a lack of self-confidence.
"For many film studios and directors skin color remains a problem. They don't believe that the audience will accept a black actor in the main role. It sounds like the problem is in Hollywood, doesn't it? But...but... that could never be...liberal Hollywood? Is she saying that Hollywood limousine liberals worry most about the almighty dollar?
To: Pokey78
Halle is a very beautiful woman. But what she feels is something that most women feel from time to time (myself included). It's hard to explain, but I think Alanis Morissette says it best with her song, 'So Unsexy'. Below is the chorus:
I can feel so unsexy for someone so beautiful
So unloved for someone so fine
I can feel so boring for someone so interesting
So ignorant for someone of sound mind

Her remarks just show how typically shallow she is, just like most hollywood types. She isnt ugly at all, but she also isnt nearly as beautiful as some make her out to be, no matter what racial angle you're coming from. By the way, all her carping and bitching about racism just doesnt hold water. If Whitey was so damned racist, she wouldnt be where she is today, with her glamorous career and fat bank account. She should ask her friendly German journalist interviewing her about REAL racism-I think it might be educational.

Die Another Day:
And the most delicious item in Die Another Day is Halle Berry as agent Jinx. The very sight of her on the big screen is enough to microwave that Chimichanga in your pantalones.
