I listened to almost the entire House Committee hearings on Waco. I found it disgusting the way the Democrats were thoroughly obstructionist, while the Republicans completely failed to ask really probing questions (though admittedly the ridiculous time controls imposed by the Democrats made that difficult).
Some questions I would have liked to have seen asked of various people on the initial raid:
- Under what circumstances, other than on a shooting range, is it appropriate for a law-enforcement officer to discharge his weapon other than at a clearly and specifically-identified hostile target?
- When you fired at the wall, did you have any specific reason to believe that there were no other agents in your line of fire?
- Is an MP-5 legally considered a machine gun?
- Can "flash-bangs", i.e. concussion grenades, cause lethal or maiming injuries?
- Would an untrained person who was expecting neither concussion grenades nor gunfire be able to tell the difference?
- How did BATF agents outside the building identify their targets?
- How come most of the bullet holes that appear to have come from outside the building are nowhere near the only broken window on the whole front of the building?
Some questions for people on the cleanup mission:
- You stated the goal was to use CS gas to herd the Davidians toward the center of the building away from the exits; you further stated surprise that few Davidians came out. How did you expect the Davidians to leave the building?
- When APC's were used to knock through walls, was any effort made to shore up the floors above those walls? Would the openings thus created be reasonably passable by someone with reduced vision?
- You stated that an APC ran over a large diesel fuel tank and spread the fuel around. Why was this done?
- Were the rooms where ferret rounds were launched open to the rest of the structure, or were the doors closed [note: without power, the ventilation system would be a non-issue]
Anyone know the answers to any of those questions?
supercat hit the nail on the head here.
Also, Mizzzzzzzzzz Renal already took "full responsibility", can't we all move along?
that's a joke, of course....
Anyone know the answers to any of those questions?Sure - did you watch the ABC special the other night with *some* (10 or so) of the twenty-plus children who were released from the Waco compound?
At one point Byron Sage explained to the kids what their intent was.
THEN he proceeded to answer a number of other questions they had.
For the most part - THEY seemed to accept what he had to say AND, better than MOST people understood what they (the FBI) was dealing with when it came to Vernon Wayne Howell.
In fact, they put y'all to shame on understsnding this aspect - the total mind control - that Vernon Wayne Howell HAD over those people in the compound.
If the children that lost their parents can come to grips and understand what 'David Koresh' was all about - WHY CAN'T YOU?
Daft, dense, totally inattentive or A-D-D?
