Thank you, I appreciate that, unfortunately, there are too many people here who are so wrapped up in the emotion of the event that their judgment or ability to discuss is clouded. Yes, the murder was visceral, yes it is horrible, yes Peterson - who no jury will find anything less than guilty - is a vile nightmare, but at the same time I am concerned that we, as a nation, have lost our ability to focus to the point where we drift along like a leaf in the current of the media, rudderless and directionless.

I don't have any problem with the interests of people - everyone has the right to their opinion irrespective of their connection to the event - however, and here's a thought that will draw fire, in two weeks will that event (generic in this sense) be regarded as anything but page 14 news?

Marking calendar for May 4th to see what page of the news Laci's story is on.......

We should take bets - this is a great idea!

Here, why don't you go play on one of these other threads? It could be argued they are so much more silly than a dead woman and her child.

But maybe not as silly as One of the Greatest Westerns Ever.

Monica Lewinsky: Wronged woman now a woman who has gone wrong

CAPTION TIME: Headless Saddam statue

What's your favorite (or least favorite) cliche'

As tragic as it is, this event, like most other crimes, teaches us a lot about humans, especially their darker side. That's the basis of our interest in criminal behavior. You have every right to be uninterested in all this, and we have every right to be extremely interested.

your wrong and your worries are taken into consideration.

There is more than one thread/post going on in FR, and although this one is lengthy, many Freepers do venture on and off into other threads. We are not close minded into one subject. We do do multi-tasking.. fun isn't it! ;o)

It won't matter if it's on Page 14, if it interests me, I will still look for information about it. If it doesn't interest me, I won't.

That's what's called NOT drifting along like a leaf in the current of the media, rudderless and directionless.

You watch the media, and you accept OTHERS' definition of what is Important. I'd say you're the one who's being led along. Or perhaps you're just letting your emotions control you, instead of responding with reason.

I'm gonna have to be fair to you, Arch, haven't read all your criticisms of this thread with much focus, because frankly, I thought you were just another "disruptor".

I notice your tagline says, "think political, not emotionally". A lot of us are thinking politically. We want to see how CA's judicial system will handle this horrific case. Will justice really be served in CA? Will they go for the death penalty? Hey, how about this new "thing" I'm seeing posted about Roe vs. Wade? Will that be a factor in this case?

Yes, it is an emotional thing for any of us who have any emotions or feelings, but a real human being can be logical/political and emotional at the same time.
