I had not really kept up with Scott's parents statements that well.I never criticize the parents for being loving parents but these people are either delusional or they think we are easily led. Simply saying they support him would be enough.

" As we speak the charges against SP are two counts of Capital Murder,Special Circumstances, it can be changed at arraignment, and then back again by plea bargain and may very well be. It's pre-trial and nothing is written in stone.

Let me tell you why I think pushing for Special Circumstances Death Penalty at trial is unwise in this case. I did not want to put this on the thread b/c I was reluctant to give ideas, but what the hay it's coming "Trial Time", and blood is in the air.

The DA takes a chance of loosing all if he tries to go for Special Circumstances Capital Punishment B/C of the Partial Birth Abortion laws in effect in the United States at this time. You see there are many men and some women who think it it just a horrid to kill a baby being born as it is to sufficate one in the whom. The policy to execute one and encourage the other is causing social polarization and dissenting opinion that is tearing away at the trust that citizens have for justice and have toward each other.

There very well may be men on that jury who will take offense if the DA tries to execute SP for the indirect death of connor, and vote to acquit on a circumstantial case, rather than risk SP being put to death for something Laci could have done and be free as a bird. YES, there are many men who take that to heart, and one or more of them If aggravated might opt to stage a little "pay back" and vote for acquital.

It doesn't pay for the DA to take those kinds of risks, when he has a sure thing for two Life Terms W/O parole.

OJ is walking the streets today B/C black's voted a little "Pay Back" against whitey, just like Johnny Cochoran asked them to during closing arguments. You can bet if they push for the Death Penalty, SP's Defense Attorney will somehow light the fires of revenge in those male jurors, Most likely during closing arguments.

Another path to the Death Penalty is Premeditaded Murder on Laci. Again no Direct Physical or Direct Witness Evidence of premeditation. You are already asking a jury to put a man away for the rest of his life based on circumstances alone, now you turn around and ask them to take his life based on a two week affair, a two week old 14 ft fishing boat(Christmas Present he hid from his wife) and a Life Insurance Policy purchased to cover contingencies of raising his child that he won't collect because of the murder conviction. All of these fail the exclusionary provision, meaning there is at least one other logical reason for their presence in the set of circumstances, besides premeditation for murder, and w/o support of Direct Evidence that is all it takes.

Generally speaking,even with the very best circumstantial evidence, To get Capital Murder and Capital Punishment stacked, without one of the two being based on direct physical or forensic evidence or eyewitness testimony is simply not in the cards,and the attempt may challenge the concentration span of the jury and lead to and boredom.

Remember, you are trying the case against the person not the person. This case is purely circumstantial;take what we can get for sure and put him away. Then he can't hurt another innocent person. There will be other cases against Scott Peterson;watch.

The DA may roll the dice with the Death Penalty, he didn't LOOK like a "razor"(just kidding). If he does, I hope he gets it.

As far as this "MIGHT" be large amounts of blood, deal, I have written so much on that anything further would be superflous. I will not go back to the search warrants either.

One thing is sure;the Trial and Appeals is going to be most interesting.

Did you watch MSNBC where Jackie and Lee Peterson was talking about ol Scotty? They are saying that MPD bungled the case, committed perjury to get answers, divided the Rocha's and Peterson, yadda yadda yadda..... The creatons are so demented, they are not on this earth... They said they are going to fight this... Yeah, spend your money Lee.. A question was being asked, and Jackie conviently after she spouted off her mouth against MPD, I got to go, I need my oxygen.... Pathic creatons in defending this moron.

I am truly sorry for them in not realizing that yes, even the best child of a family can commit a henious crime, and make all think they had no part.... Heck, look at Clinton.... Gads, that interview was sick!!!

I'm gonna have to be fair to you, Arch, haven't read all your criticisms of this thread with much focus, because frankly, I thought you were just another "disruptor".

I notice your tagline says, "think political, not emotionally". A lot of us are thinking politically. We want to see how CA's judicial system will handle this horrific case. Will justice really be served in CA? Will they go for the death penalty? Hey, how about this new "thing" I'm seeing posted about Roe vs. Wade? Will that be a factor in this case?

Yes, it is an emotional thing for any of us who have any emotions or feelings, but a real human being can be logical/political and emotional at the same time.

Peterson Parents Speak Out In San Diego

'I Feel Like I'm Living In Nazi Germany'


SAN DIEGO -- The parents of accused killer Scott Peterson vigorously defended their son Sunday.


Speaking out in front of their Solana Beach home, the obviously distraught Lee and Jackie Peterson made an extended statement. Scott was arrested Friday outside the Torrey Pines golf course in connection with the slaying of his eight-months-pregnant wife, Laci, who vanished in December of last year.


"Our son is innocent," said Lee, Scott's father. "We know that. We've known that from Day 1."

The Petersons began their statement with an expression of mourning.

"We want to say that we are grieving for our daughter-in-law and the baby," said Lee. "Our family is just devastated, and we feel an equal amount of pain for the Rocha family."

Rocha was Laci Peterson's maiden name. Jackie said that she thought that the Rocha family had been misled.

"They know it, too," Jackie said, referring to her son's innocence. "They supported him fully till the police misled them. And that was to divide and separate them from him. He was their support. They were his support."



The Petersons took issue with the Modesto, Calif., Police Department and its handling of the case.

"We are very critical of the way the Modesto Police Department has handled this investigation," said Lee. "They worked strictly on a theory that was dreamed up by this detective, I'd say, within the first eight hours, and they pursued it backward from there. And they have neglected so many good leads."

That was the black tarp/sheet plastic, I'm pretty sure. It was videoed as it sat in a clear plastic bag where it was placed the day after Laci was found.

At this point in time, (and excluding the possibility of discovery of some other damning evidence), I think I do see the wisdom of going for 2 life terms without the possibility of parole, and believe the Rocha's wouldn't have a problem with that. Personally, I want it all the "dirt" and evidence to come out, and don't have a problem at all with the death penalty. Two life terms without the possibility of parole though, means a "negotiated justice" to me, and I don't always (if ever), agree with it, but it is the way our system works. :(

The Peterson TV Interviews really are a joke.
Jackie Peterson can't look at the camera's. However, they state how the police deceived the world and the Rocka's with theories of Laci's undoing. They never address how the Rocha's were deceived by Scott's double life. They never address how Scott might be deceiving the police,the Rocha's,and them- his own parents at this very moment.

If I were the Peterson's I'd say... I hope-( I pray to God) my son did not do this, it's a world of hurt on me/us to think that he might have murdered our daughter (in-law)and our grandchild. They should just give short gracious statements..

It's not for them to defend or make excuses for their son- that's what defense attorney's are for...
