The GOP’s Gay Agenda

By Scott A. Lauf April 17, 2003

The Republican Party is once again courting the so-called gay and lesbian vote. At a recent high-powered luncheon in Washington, DC, hosted by the well-funded homosexual lobby, Republican National Committee Chairman Marc Racicot spoke before a crowd of 300 homosexual activists of the Human Rights Campaign and other radical groups to spread the message that the GOP is a party that is inclusive and tolerant. One of the gay attendees described the occasion as an “historic moment.”

The response by the core base of the Republican Party was shock and dismay, and can be summed up by the words of Robert Knight, director of the Culture & Family Institute: “You don’t go meeting with 300 radical gay activists and talk about your party’s, quote, ‘commitment to tolerance and inclusion’ without basically declaring war on your family base.”

Indeed, what chairman Racicot did was tantamount to political suicide for the GOP. It is also one more salient example of why syndicated columnist Samuel Francis has often referred to the Republican Party as the “Stupid Party.” Whenever Republican leaders are afraid of being smeared as homophobes, bigots, racists, Nazis, et. al. – they immediately raise the white flag and surrender their principles on moral and social issues.

This is not a new phenomenon. For more than a decade the GOP’s ranks have been tainted with neo-cons and squishy “moderates” who push “Big Tent” politics, but give the middle finger to traditional conservatives and evangelical voters. A few weeks ago I read a column in National Review Online by neo-con Jonah Goldberg spouting off how wonderful it was for him to sit on a panel with the folks at Human Rights Campaign and chit-chat about the “divide” between “gays” and “conservatives.” How nauseating!

Does not Jonah Goldberg, or Marc Racicot, or other Big Tent GOPers, know what these radical groups actually stand for and are advocating?!

Last July, World Net Daily’s “Whistblower” magazine published an excellent collection of articles exposing the radical, secret agenda of the homosexual lobby. What is particularly frightening is the homosexuals’ obsession of children. One well-researched article by Steve Baldwin sums it succinctly: “It is time to acknowledge that homosexual behavior threatens the foundation of Western civilization – the nuclear family. An unmistakable manifestation of the attack on the family unit is the homosexual community’s efforts to target children both for their sexual pleasure and to enlarge the homosexual movement.”

Every American, but especially parents, should understand these sordid underlying motives of the homosexual community. It explains why these people want gay Boy Scout leaders; why they are spreading homosexual propaganda in schools and on television; why they are lobbying to rescind anti-sodomy state laws; and why they trying to loosen the adoption laws of Florida, Mississippi, and Utah (coincidentally, and surprisingly, the only three states in the union that forbid gay and lesbians adopting children).

The Republican Party, which is supposed to represent traditional family values, should be fighting these efforts tooth and nail at both the national and state level. While there are many GOP-elected state representatives and members of Congress that do their best in fighting this battle of the culture war, it seems that the national leadership has lost its moral compass.

But, since Mr. Racicot & Friends are so intent on being “inclusive and tolerant,” then I invite them to take a look at the continuing and overwhelmingly body of evidence that disproportionately links homosexuality and pedophilia.

For example, several studies cited by Peter Sprigg of the Family Research Council (Washington Times, 6/12/02, A19) reveal that the “percentage of the male population that is homosexual is quite small (only 2.5%),” but that the “vast majority of child molesters are male.” One study by the Journal of Sex and Marital Therapy found that “36% of the male sex offenders had victimized male children.” Another study of convicted child molesters (published in the Archives of Sexual Behavior) found that “86% of offenders against males described themselves as homosexual or bisexual.”

It doesn’t take a math wizard to crunch these numbers and figure out, that homosexuals – and their well-paid lobbyists and liberal allies on Capitol Hill, as well as dozens of liberal state legislators and judges – threaten America’s children! Moreover, many non-partisan public opinion polls overwhelmingly show that the American people are opposed to the homosexual lobby’s agenda – whether it’s same-sex marriage or gay adoption or new “hate-crime” laws.

Sadly, though, it seems many top GOP leaders like Marc Racicot, are either ignorant of these facts, or are so fearful of being called a bigot, they have thrown in the towel and surrendered.

This is a big mistake. At election time, moral and social issues are the driving force of Christian, evangelical voters, who still represent the largest voting bloc of the Republican Party. In the 2000 elections it was estimated that 27% of the voters were self-identified evangelical Christians. Only 5% of them voted for Al Gore, but over 90% voted for Bush. (And in five toss-up states, Pat Buchanan received more votes beyond the margin of victory of Gore over Bush, thus illustrating that a third-party candidate could determine the outcome of a presidential election on hot-button issues).

While no one questions President Bush’s Christian faith and his outspoken beliefs in traditional values, one should question the leadership of the party both in the White House and on Capitol Hill. Much like the Karl Roves on immigration, the Marc Racicots of the GOP seem equally determined to chart an irreversible course on family issues that will ultimately have repercussions at the voting booth in 2004.

First I've heard of this little meeting.

I knew Racicot was a leftwinger.

If this is true, it proves he is also a stupid leftwinger.

So much for my party taking a moral stand.

If this is indeed true, I am without party.

It's time to start over. How about starting a part called ADAM (All Decent And Moral)?

Why in the world does anyone want to court these agenda groups? Their agendas are no more important than anyone else's.

One example of the idiocy of the writer. No doubt there are some homosexuals who want to get into little boys pants, but the writer suggests that is the agenda for all homosexuals. How can anyone take the author seriously?

I've been trying to tell everyone that Racicot was pro-gay ever since he became chairman. From a purely political standpoint, why would you court a tiny group (2.5 percent of the population minus the overwhelming majority of which are liberal democRATs), and risk losing 27% of the population (or so)?

This "inclusive" crap is stupid. Of course we are inclusive to all races and ethnic groups. Would any say, however, that we are inclusive to all political viewpoints? I would hope not. The same should go for all moral viewpoints.

Who started this "big tent" crap anyway? I always thought it was the liberal media. You never hear anyone ask if the RATs have a big tent. Try being a pro-lifer in that party. Try being a conservative Christian in that party. Let them have all the perverts. We don't need them.

He didn't say they all want to molest kids. But they do seem to all want to recruit kids in the sense that they are obsessed with kid issues. Why are their battlegrounds always kid related? Boy Scouts, Big Brothers, adoption, public schools, etc...are the fields they choose to fight their political battles. Why pick on the kids? They can't produce any through homosexuality.

This is true, sadly. I dumped my RNC membership over it already. I'll still vote Republican and donate to the good ones. But I do not feel the same passion for the party as a whole. This is exactly why.

I doubt I'll ever vote democrat again in my lifetime, but I'm glad too that I've long been registered non-partisan.

“percentage of the male population that is homosexual is quite small (only 2.5%),”

This must be the portion born that way. Another 2.5% get sucked into it.

If a gay vote counts as much as a straight vote, then every one you win over is one less for the enemy and you don't have to change the conservative agenda to do it.

Two things caught my attention:

Human Rights Campaign and other radical groups....

Compared to groups like GLAAD and GLSEN, The Human Rights Campaign is not as insidious.

The response by the core base of the Republican Party was shock and dismay....

This is a very subjective statement. Can the more literal "Bible-believing" wing of the Rpublican party lay claim to the title of the 'core base of the Republican Party?
