Methodists, indeed any church, should be free to engage in political activities...but not with a tax exemption. This church needs to be audited for compliance with the "no politics" rules for their tax exemption.

My denomination, Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), has more than enough lefties in high places, and enough aging hippies in my local congregation to make life miserable. Recently, several of us spoke to subject, and it's created quite a little riff :^)

Yes, the Presbyterians have the same problem. There are cells of left-wing church members who attend and monitor the Presbyterian Church (USA) national assembly and also local assemblies, insisting that left-wing issues be promoted, protesting and wearing down the delegates until a certain percentage give in and accede to their agenda.
