[history]
Support is slipping for Democratic U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer, and former Gov. Pete Wilson is the top choice among Republicans to replace her next year, according to a new statewide poll released Wednesday.
But despite her mediocre marks and GOP insistence that the two-term senator is vulnerable, Boxer is in virtually the same position she was one year before her re-election in 1998.

Wilson is a RINO. Give me a real candidate who will restore my second amendment rights and I'll vote for them.

What about Ah-nuld? I've heard his name bandied about, too.

This poll is not issue oriented. Pete Wilson was the catalyst for Prop 187 a fact, which pissed off the Latino community. Boxer will exploit that big-time! The same way she turned around the polls by demonizing Matt Fong with HMOs. I like Pete but he's too exploitable.
BTW, I noticed there was 30% undecided . . . are these the people (like me) who are waiting for ARNOLD (hasta la vista, baby)?

The California GOP is in trouble. It plays up its weaknesses and allows the media to run it ragged.
The position of the GOP in CA cannot (it can't) get any worse. Its rock bottom. Something exciting, electric, funny (CA loves an entertainer), and unconventional is needed.
Not just conservative positions (Simon), but a take no prisoners, wacky, outrageous personality to push them and to not allow his opponents and their shills in the media (especially the LA Times) to define him or her.
Nothing must be too sacred to bring up. The candidate has to play up his conservative beliefs, in a, "well we have tried the liberal s%$# for a very long time and it does not work at all folks....look at our state, taxes high, infrastructure a joke, education horrible, crime going up...well guess who the f#@$ has been in charge..." but he has to say it in a very bold way....We need a sortta crazy candidate.
I think this would win it for us. At the least, it would be heartening.
No not at all. I met B 1 Bomber Bob at a Young America's Foundation Dinner the summer after the GOP sweep of 1994....he went to my Jesuit Prep School and God will certainly bless him for his defense of life, but the man was stupid and vain and not funny. We don't want a shill, but we basically want a guy who has good delivery who can say almost literally, "Listen folks, I love abortion as next as the next one, but seriously thats not the only issue out there.....Now we are in a f&*#$$% situation here and its not going to help things by sending this stupid B*&^ back to Washington. I mean what has she done besides married into the Clinton family? By the way Barb, how's that marriage of your daughter's going..." And then go crazy on her high tax, high spending agenda and how it has ruined California. But it would have to be more comic than mean...very tough I know..but D. Miller could pull it off. D. Praeger would be a great candidate, but since the powers that be (me) have just now decided we need a wacky candidate, he can't run against Boxer

LORD GOD, PLEASE MAKE IT SO AND EVEN MORE SO.
PLEASE make Wilson's numbers double and Boxer's half even this.
Please Cause the evil of Boxerface's heart to abundantly tumble out of her mouth every time a microphone's anywhere near her.
Please Cause her friends and relatives who have any brains at all to ride her mercilessly about her idiocies. Please cause her to become depressed and seek a deep hole to crawl into. Let her run screaming from public life.
Let her not utter anything in public without it being obviously off the wall, full of hate; full of vindictiveness; full of power mongering and clearly illogical.
Please take her completely off the public stage ASAP.
In Jesus' Name.

"Wilson is a RINO."Indeed.
At least with Boxer, you know where you stand, and she won't me sitting on any potentially damaging committees - like those @#%! losers Voinovich or Snowe!

I think we're going to have to put aside this RINO business to defeat the SOCIALIST Boxer.
I would prefer a conservative republican as much as the next person on this forum, but I think it's more important to get the republican party moving forward by getting someone elected to statewide office.
I have friends who are democrats who were more than willing to vote for Riordan against Davis in the Governors race, but were scared away by Simon.
I think it's more important to have a little R than a big D representing our state.
Just my two cents.

We need to come up with a way to defuse these
one issue Republicans.
They say if you don't agree with my one issue,
we will keep democrats in power to punish any-
one who doesn't agree one hundred percent with
my one issue!
