[history]
AMERICA is elated over victory in Iraq, but anti-war Democratic presidential wannabes are sticking to their - for want of a better word - guns, fueling talk that the party could McGovernize itself and walk right off a cliff in 2004.

...Besides, he's ready to bet that something will go wrong in Iraq's reconstruction... It's pretty pathetic when your entire political platform is based on sitting around waiting for something to go wrong with your opponent. The RAT party is beyond pathetic thest days.

One gets the strong feeling that many on the Left would rather see a mushroom cloud over Washington than a second Bush term. It's sad beyond words.
May God strike me dead if my political beliefs should ever become so poisonous that hope for electoral victory comes at the expense of great tragedy falling upon this nation and her people.

I've posted this quote to a couple threads, but it's relevant and I'll post it again.
Bill Krystol said during a FoxNews panel discussion:
"There are liberals in this country that hate Bush more than they love America."

True and very, very sad indeed. This is a CRUCIAL political crossroads for the nation right now. They are not long out of power; what might have happened had they stayed in? Remember the quote about the most dangerous time in warfare is right aftre you are victorious. It will be good for America if the party splits, if only to get its leftwing leadership back off into the margins and bring some reality back into their public discourse.

Plenty of them hardly love America at all -- and hate Bush plenty.
But can we call them socialists? That's what they are; liberals are folks who believe in free trade and laissez-faire capitalism.
