Morning Anchor Replacing Chung, Adding 'Crossfire' Time Slot

CNN made it official late yesterday: Paula Zahn is replacing Connie Chung in prime time. And to make way for Zahn's show, "Crossfire" is being shipped out of prime time.
Zahn's new live 7-9 p.m. show, "American Evening With Paula Zahn," will originate from the streetside studio in the Time & Life Building.
Teya Ryan, CNN executive vice president and general manager, who announced the changes in a memo to staff yesterday, said no decision has been made as to who will take over Zahn's duties on "American Morning."

Crossfire is being cut to a half hour. Looks like Carevil is not a very big asset
to the show although the first three letters of the word asset aptly describe him.

Anyone want to start a CNN Deathwatch ping list?
To: Liz
it looks like Paula Zahn is the alpha-male at cnn
To: Liz
This is good news. There is no way Paula Zahn can compete with Fox News and MSNBC primetime lineups. This could be the beginning of the end for liberal Zahn.

Whole lot of shakin' going on over at CNN! Should help the Fox ratings considerably. God bless, have a good day and be thankful for your freedom today...

"American Evening With Paula Zahn,"
I thought CNN had just gone on record that they're a "world" news organization, and not American.
Zzzzzzip!

My guess is that Zahn is just a placeholder until CNN figures out what it wants to do next. I can't imagine anyone thinking that Paula Zahn is somehow dynamic enough to turn things around for the network's primetime woes. Then again, CNN has made stupider decisions ("Hey, let's bet the farm on Aaron Brown's mass appeal!!!")Anyway, I don't think failing at this will be the end of her career. She's a reasonably attractive blonde who knows how to read a teleprompter, which are as big of considerations as anything else when it comes to TV news. If nothing else they'll stick her on the graveyard shift.

Paul Zahn is fun to look at, but too boring. James Carville, while
not fun to look at, used to pull in viewers with his outrageousness. I know I used to watch him, hoping he would force a conservative to let him have it and speak the plain truth.
Well I don't have to watch Carville anymore, because I have Fox now! CNN is melting....melting.....
To: Liz
Someone should whisper in CNN's ear, it's not the time slot stupid, it's your liberal hosts that torpedo all your shows.

Paula hasn't the brains to handle 2 hours of prime time. At her age, her looks won't carry her too many more years, and her nasty backstabbing is gonna catch up with her in a really brutal way. In 3 years, she will be doing the local morning TV show in one of the nations smaller markets.

I could care less about Paula Zahn, except for the fact that she's off FOX; after the Algore attempted coup, I wrote to FOX complaining about her disgusting bias, routing for Algore on election night....I'm guessing FOX must have received many letters of complaint about her because shortly after that, she was off FOX and on Al Jazeera-west.

And isn't Tucker Carlson such a drawing card for conservatives?
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!
No thanks, I'll keep watching Fox, thankyouverymuch.
If Novak had the integrity of his convictions, he (and every other CNN employee) would have resigned from CNN last week.
That not one CNN on-air person has resigned puts the final nail in the coffin of CNN's believability.
Of course, Freepers have been aware of this for years.

"Paul Zahn is fun to look at"My feelings exactly.
How could so bright a light come from such a dim bulb?
To: capt. norm
Fun to look at? She's looked rather rough lately, almost on the verge of a nervous breakdown (almost all of the communist news network's hosts have this look). She opens her eyes so wide you can almost see the vains popping out of her forehead.

Yeah, disappointing but not surprising that some of the more conservative leanings at CNN haven't walked out. Maybe they have contract legalities to consider, but there are plenty of reasons to skeedaddle out of CNN. Not only the scandal about the Baghdad bureau but also the stock-holder lawsuit and the admissions by CNN of several hundred millions worth of over-estimated that it did.
FCC should shut the entire thing down and file charges. But then that should likely happen with other networks too.

The biggest single improvement CNN could make would be to get rid of Judy Woodruff. However, she'll probably die of old age on the air before they'd ever fire her. She's a big fixture on the DC A-List party circuit, she's paid her DNC dues big-time, and none in that clubby DC media group ever fire one of their own.
The WashComPost will fire Mary McGrory before CNN will fire Woodruff.
