The Defense Department has no plan to rescind its invitation to the Rev. Franklin Graham to speak at Good Friday services at the Pentagon, despite Muslim concerns over the evangelist's labeling of Islam as "a very evil and wicked religion."

Nonsense. We were attacked by Islamist racists who use religion to incite their own people, not normal Muslims. Mr. Graham commits a sin against justice by his words. Supposedly we should condemn Christianity because of the Germans and Zen Buddhism because of the Japanese, too.

As if he knows God at all.

"We're not attacking Islam, but Islam has attacked us," the younger Mr. Graham said.
"The God of Islam is not the same God. ... It's a different God, and I believe it is a very evil and wicked religion."

All the truth from Franklin Graham who is not blind to the facts........

So what happens when that nice young girl someday decides to take off the layers of excess yardage and change her religion? Where is the "tolerance" and "understanding" then? If she were in a Muslim country under sha'ria law she would be *officially murdered.*

As long as there are religious justifications for killing people who change their religion, there is no "peace and tolerance."

It's those religious strictures that have to be challenged - because they're the *root* of the "Muslim extremism" referred to in the AIC's mission statement.

Indeed, Muslims would not allow for us to go to their lands and propose that our Christian speakers would be accepted but not their Islamic spiritual leaders! What a ridiculous situation, thanks to the INS, gov and whoever else wants to come across as "tolerant". The intolerant muslims must be restrained, this is our land or freedom; theirs is a culture of bondage/oppression and sick hatred. That is why Islam will never work here.

Name for me the Muslims in the Pentagon that are targetting Franklin Graham for death.

As soon as you cough up a list of those Muslims who condemned the same call.

So now the muslims think they are going to dictate to the Christians how to observe Christian holy days? I think NOT.

I always found it odd that any african would convert to islam. The arab word for black and slave is one and the same : abed.

Gen Abizaid (with whom I worked with in a past deployment first - hand), is as sharp as a tack and is - a Roman Catholic.

Not all Arabs are Muslims. Check out Lebanon and Egypt, for instance.

Were the terrorists not evil? Were the terrorists not followers of Islam? Islam is not only implicated in the evil acts of 9-11, it was the motivator of those acts. It is up to the Islamists to change how they are viewed, not those of rational understanding.

Thanks for posting the update... I am also happy to see so many people voicing support for a stauch Christian leader who matches his beliefs with his actions through his ministry Samaritan's Purse. If you are able, write a note of encouragement to Mr. Graham, and lift him up in prayer.

Stop Islam Now.

If only 5% of muslims are radical, then 200 million muslims want you dead.

1 billion peaceful muslims, and not a peep from em.

"Are we to permit a trio of Muslims to veto the speaker preferred by the Christian believers on this holy day?"

Well, why not?

We are allowing a small number of terrorists to influence our opinion of a billion people.

It’s the capacity of man to do evil that is the enemy, not ideas or inanimate objects.

While some ideas are inherently good and others are inherently evil, it is only when people act on the evil ideas that the problem arises. Similarly, while you know that you can use a gun for self-defense, to hunt, as a collectible item, or just simply to admire, you are also fully aware that it can do something as evil as being instrumental in the murder of an innocent person. It’s the action of picking it up, pointing it at that innocent, and pulling the trigger that’s evil, not the gun itself. Once that decision is made, and that action taken, do we punish the gun, or the criminal? Do we violate the right of all to own guns, or do we remove the rights of the individual who perpetrated the crime?

When I read the Old Testament, I realize that Jews decided long ago to forego the explicit instructions on the punishment of sinners detailed to a great extent in books like Leviticus, and ignore G_d’s stern warnings against not following His commands. Instead, they have made a choice to allow secular laws to rule matters such as adultery, or to even do little more than to show disapproval of people working on the Sabbath. In a sense, with the passing of time, Jews have decided not to put into practice actions that non-Jews would most certainly perceive as evil.

That’s where I see that part of the Muslim world that has made the choice to live and grow within the scope of Western civilization. In effect, they are choosing not to use the gun for evil; they are walking away from the evil aspect of Islam.

It was no coincidence that the people who carried out the attacks on 9/11 came from Saudi Arabia, and not from a Western country. The extremists within Islam see the relentless advance of Western civilization, and they see their people moving away from the repressive life under the Mullahs, and towards a westernized version of Islam, an Islam where the Mosque does not command so much as it obeys, and if they can’t get them to return, then the only choice left is to make us reject them, so they find fanatics in their ranks to carry out their plans.

And it isn’t even about religion either, the geopolitical aspects of this issue are titanic in scope, and like so many times before, people who seek power over other people are using religion as a tool to incite strife.

Who is the enemy then?

It's the Muslim terrorists who perpetrate atrocities in Islam's name who are the enemies here, that, and the evil that men can do in their search for power.

Stating that an entire religion of One Billion people is an "evil and wicked religion" based on the wicked acts of a few is NOT "reasoned opinion."

Well there's where you're wrong--Mr. Graham didn't base his comments on the acts of a few. He has worked and continues to work in several Islamic countries including Sudan and Indonesia. He's seen first hand the type of oppression this religion of Islam inflicts upon those who are under its curse. The problems associated with Islam are fundamental ones that make it inherently incompatible with Western (Christian influenced) cultures like the one we enjoy here in the U.S. You can stick your head in the sand and ignore the fact that it's enveloping our culture, but get out of the way of those of us who are not afraid to call a spade a spade, coward.

Better to have the role of faith retained to hearts and minds and keep them out of the political arena while the role of government is kept at the minimum of its bounds. Namely giving individuals the opportunity to pick a faith without fear of reprisal.

What you describe is a transient state. Such a state will not exist for any considerable period of time. We need to accept that fact that ALL people have a worldview--some are wrapped in the form of religion such a Christianity or Islam, others in philosophies such as secular humanism (which some even consider a religion), and ALL adherents of a worldview compete for followers who, no matter what the people of a particular world view say about just wanting to "live and let live", move in to positions of control when their numbers are there.

Idealism is often great on paper, but, as with communism, can be miserably applied to reality. Rather than trying to maintain the current transient status (i.e. from a Christian worldview to ???) in vain, we're better off finding and promoting the superior worldview--which, personally, I believe is the Christian-influenced government with which America started.
