Marine Fired While Serving in Iraq
What in the world is going on with Hyundai? First the giant conglomerate is caught in South Korea's bribery scandal involving communist North Korea. Now the pregnant wife of a Marine reservist says the corporation fired him while he was serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Shari Moffitt says her husband, Sgt. Clifford Moffitt, thought his job at the automaker was secure after he was called to active duty.
"Instead he received a letter on the battlefield saying that Hyundai decided to terminate his employment two months after he left," Mrs. Moffitt told KGTV in San Diego.
Hyundai, however, says an investigation found "numerous instances of extreme sexual harassment involving multiple employee victims."
Mrs. Moffitt says she learned about the allegations of sexual harassment for the first time Monday.
"I was shocked, actually. I think Hyundai should have waited to speak with him at the very least and hear his side of the story," she told the Orange County Register.
"I don't believe it," she said. "He can't defend himself. This is devastating."
Moffitt was Hyundai's national collections manager and a former Employee of the Year, Gloria Allred, the Moffitts' attorney, told the Register.
"Giving a pink slip to a Marine who may be in the red zone of war is in our opinion an unforgivable act," Allred fumed.
Hyundai says it supports the troops and honors employment agreements.
"We regret that the public was left with the wrong impression," a statement from the company said.

Hey the President can get away with it why not a Marine?
I imagine the Marine was aware of the complaints before being called up. It is not fair to have to pay this Marine until they can sort out the facts either. I fully support anti sexual harassment policies.
That woman should divorce this creep.

A former employee of the year? Represented by Gloria Allred - who always manages to ingratiate herself with the winners? No way. Hyundai is toast!

Hyundai must be trying to sign a DEAl with Damlier-Chrysler.

First reported post when all the details were not in yetHyundai, however, says an investigation found "numerous instances of extreme sexual harassment involving multiple employee victims."
I hope this isn't true. The military gives pretty good sexual harassment training.
Sad if true though.

"That woman should divorce this creep." Isn't it possible that some woman is looking for a quick and easy payday with charges against a guy who isn't there to defend himself?
With what passes for 'sexual harassment', his offense (if 'guilty') might have been as innocent as a compliment.
I was 'written up' under exactly those circumstances.

If Gloria Allred, the original Feminazi from Hell, is on this case Hyundai and his supposed accusers are about to be subject to a napalm roasting.

You must know a lot more about this case than is stated in the article to come to the conclusion that he is guilty. I have seen folks unfairly and falsely accused of Sexual Harrasment. It is much easier to do when the accused people are not around to tell their side. Nothing like keeping an open mind.

WEAK, weak, weak. Hyundai stalls until he's two months into deployment before addressing the problem? Before the complaint is lodged by his alledged victim? Are there letters in his personnel file (there is a legal protocol that must be followed, right?)?

How about Scott Ritter? Being a Marine is not a conferment of sainthood.

I guess Gloria Allred supports our troops... when they're paying her bills.
