My favorite Led Zeppelin song was "Trample Under Foot."

I saw the thread title and immediately thought of the mini-series, 'Wild Palms'.

It probably is a simply matter of math: Bach and Beethoven lived in an age when few people were educated enough to know anything about writing music; thus, few people did write music, and those few were remembered for centuries. Now, composers get lost in the crowd.

"Won't Get Fooled Again" is the perfect rock song.

Hmmmmm . . . I've got the original vinyl of that album. I gotta go check, but I don't think
mine mentions Air Supply.
I have the radio-station PR T-shirt that came with the vinyl, too. That one does say Air Supply. You sure yours isn't a pic of the shirt?

I loved it when Bush used that in the waning days of the 2000 campaign. He started by playing Clinton's favorite, the horrible "Don't Stop Thinking About Tomorrow," and then abruptly switched to the line, "We won't get fooled again!"

Can I add Nils Lofgren to your list of ought-to-be-remembered guitarists?

INDEED! "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss"
is simple yet profound.

A late-night Zeppelin ping!
Random thoughts:
You know what all the critics said about In Through the Out Door at the time? No one would say they liked it, but they all went out and bought it...Did anyone else find out about the watercolor album cover like I did--by spilling a beer on it?
They only licensed the rights to Cadillac for this one song (I love the commercials) and no others, IIRC. They made a "ridiculous amount of money" for it--and raised Cadillac's sales by 16%.
Am I the only 44-year-old female that plays air-bass?
I'll have to go see if I have any lemons...

Want to get really scared? There's something out there WORSE than rap. I don't know what it is but I know it's out there. I said the samething about disco...and (unfortunatly) I was right.

I began conjecturing if "The Locomotion" will still be listened to in yet another 40 years. Given how pervasive 60s music is today, I think theres a possibility of that happening. If the USSC ever stops perverting the intent of "copyright", these songs would be in the public domain by then (including the Beatles' complete catalog. Then everyone could use the original recordings in ads.

I wouldn't necessarily give it much expectation, but the Yardbirds are putting out a new album next Tuesday (I think 2 original members with Jeff Beck sitting in on 1 track). Half new stuff, half old.

Billy Lee Riley and Sam The Sham (and Gino Washington, and Elvis' sidemen, and Dale Hawkins, and Tony Joe White, and Joe "Ducktail" Clay) and others will be playing at a festival in New Orleans in 2 weeks. Sun Ra's Arkestra will close out the show each of the three days:

You listen to Reinhardt and Grapelli?
Wow. I am amazed anyone here knows who they were. Very cool, Publius. (And a "Minor Swing" bump for this thread.)
